What is the official name of the 6th generation engine? Is it still the VQ35DE as in the 5th or a completely new engine with a new designation? Thanks in advance.

Ok thanks for the reply. Does that mean that the engine in the G35 and the 350Z is also the very same VQ35DE as in the Maxima?

Same engine name VQ35DE for Pathfinder, Murano, 350Z, and G35 Sport Coupe,

but G35 Sport Sedan is VQ35 without DE

Here's a couple of good threads to read.

The engine code for all Nissan 3.5L VQ engines is "VQ35DE". The G35s is still a "DE" also. In Nissan terminology, the "D" means DOHC head/valvetrain configuration (with a SOHC the "D" is omitted), and the "E" mean electronic fuel injection. Another "D" would mean direct injection. And a "T" means turbocharged. "TT" means twin turboed.

Examples...

VG30E: SOHC 3.0L EFI V6 from the 3rd gen Maximas
VG30DE: DOHC 3.0L EFI V6 from old J30 and 300ZX
VQ30DD: DOHC 3.0L Direct Injected V6 (sold in Japan market)
RB26DETT: DOHC EFI 2.6L Inline-6, twin turbo charged (the infamous Skyline GT-R engine)

Freshalloy.com's engine matrix is a good reference also that explains all of this: http://www.freshalloy.com/site/featu...nes/home.shtml
