I'm not a lawyer, and I haven't read all the fine print in the lease, but as I understand it the lease and the car are two different things. By that I mean the lease is a separate contract between you and the seller for the purpose of paying for the car. Therefore, you can't just end that payment contract because you change your mind about the car.

If the car has covered mechanical problems or defects, the warranty is your recourse for that. But in the meantime, you've agreed to pay for the car via the lease and can't expect the leasing company to cancel the lease because you don't like the car.

Now, if the car is a true lemon and your state has a lemon law, you may have some recourse there.

If you return the car ,this is considered a voluntary repossesion unless their is a mechanical problem or warranty problem that is causing improper operation of the vehicle and as the previous thread suggested ,you are still legally responsible for payment after the car is auction off ,you are responsile for the balance of the contract,so in short don`t do it ,trade it .
