Other than replacing my scratched and cloudy cheap junk plastic
faceplate with another one of the same crap quality, anyone have
any other ideas? I recall someone was going to atempt to duplicate
one with glare free glass from a frame shop. Never heard anything more.
My SE is great, except for this POS plastic cover. Help.

I did get one for myself made. I have three more waiting at the shop to be finished. They're not moving too fast cause I'm not paying them a whole lot for the work. Its more worth their while to tint cars instead.

The glare free glass is an improvement over the scratches. Though at some angles it looks kind of funny. I'm still pleased with it over the plastic.

New Plastic screen
Just left the Nissan dealership in Perrine FL and the 04's that are on the lot have a new style screen cover, much nicer and seems harder to get scratched and condensated up, u might want to look into it. where the black part is on the sides are actually hard plastic now and stick up off of the screen. You should be able to order it under your warranty i did I think nissan knows of the problem and has made a new one

Im very glad that all you folks outside of Rhode Island, Outside of New England get such high service. It sounds strange to hear you guys say "Our dealers will replace them" because up here in the North, we get laughed at, told we are ****, picky, told its our fault... And if we want to get a new one then we are the ones to order it, and pay. I agreed but its been over a month on order at 3 different dealerships and no luck.

DOes anybody know where else I can buy this screen, like say another dealership out of state?

THe screen is said to be like $30, however the shifter plate area is $120 and the vertical cover pice over the cd and tape is $600. Why such a difference if its all the same crap material?

Like I said before the dealer I went to changed mine with no issue. Also the replacement is a different material. The reason I can tell is when I wear my polarized sun glasses I can see colors that were not there with the last screen.

tquarles is def right, there are cars on the lots now with stickers reading "Nissan Flagship" THese cars have a much durable information screen. After chatting with the Service Dept, Parts Dept, at 2 different dealers, I got crazy looks, and although they even admitted the differences between my screen and the new they tried brushing it off as a nav screen or a this or a that. They couldnt be honest with me, tell me it was redesigned. Anyways, I asked them if the one I ordered 2 months ago was the new one, and they have no idea. Anyways 4 dealerships all have this friggin screen on backorder, im hoping it eventually comes in before my financing is up in 4 years.

dfurlano, you got yours replaced no problem? The dealers in RI suck, they refuse to replace anything, they say they can clean but not replace. idiots. anyways, dfurlano did they have to order a screen for you? were they in stock? did you pay? how much?

thanks

My CD player was skipping when it was cold so I told them to replace the CD player and the nav screen. It took 10 days to order both and they were covered so I did not pay anything. I had 34000 miles at the time and told them I wanted it done before 36k even though I have the extended warranty.

they should replace it for free. try and contact Nissan about it if you are not happy.
