Aftermarket HIDs?

My mom is trading me her 04 SE Max for my 2k GXE, the only package she got with her Max was the audio package. It has the sky lite and its a Manual transmission, but none of the other goodies. I was thinking I could order a 12,000k HID kit from custom maxima or something and install it. Has anyone done this?

So if I understand your post, the Max your getting came with Halogens instead of the (HID) setup. If that's the case consider that an aftermarket HID kit is illegal and also a 12000K (Kelvin) is so dark, you might as well purchase a black light and you'll get the same results. I would highly recommend researching OEM projectors (Bi-Xenon) setup. And if you really want color for your headlights, then get a 6000K setup, anything higher and you might as well drive in the dark ;-) There's a forum I highly recommend you do your research regarding HID setups at hidforum.com.

my 2 cents.

Is that 2000 Max one of those rare electric ones? I see in the picture that it came with a pole and electric wires ...

Dear lord those wheels are awful. Get your money back and then you can buy the HID kit.

The 04' Max uses projector units (as I'm sure you know). . what I would do is retrofit some xenon projectors to replace the halogen ones. . that would be the most ideal thing to do if you want HID. Forget those crap kits & 12K what are you thinking man? Check out www.hidtech.com or www.illusion-lighting.com regarding retrofits. Hope this helps man. . peace

This may be a bit off topic, but didn't someone find a drop-in replacement bulb for the factory HID owners that was like 20% brighter? (Or maybe it was really close to being able to be a drop-in replacement...).

Yeah I do need to research, I normally do anyway on a major purchase as such. Normally my first step in the research process is getting opinions from you veterans in the game.

Thanks.
