Eagle RS-A 245/45-18 blowouts?

After reading reviews on 1010tires.com, Epinions.com, and tirerack.com, my wife wants rid of the Eagle RS-A 245/45-18's ASAP. She has a crippling fear of blowouts, and many in those reviews have had blowouts. However, I feel like different sizes may be manufactured differently and have different problems, so I just wonder if anyone here has ever had a 245/45-18 RS-A blowout? Or heard of someone that has?

Also, all 4 tires have what looks like pretty bad cracks on the sidewall that faces in. I called Goodyear and they said they're superficial as long as the cracks don't go through the nylon plies. I need to go to the Goodyear shop to have the cracks checked out, but does anyone else's car have the same cracks?

My interior rear tire blew out after going about 70mph for about an hour on the Garden State Parkway in NJ. Got the tire replaced but fortunately I purchased a warrenty from Goodyear a month after I purchased the car. So the tire cost me $35. There was a slit in the interior wall. There was a burning tire smell, pulled over to the side and looked around and finally found the tire coming off the rim. I'm convinced there is something wrong with the tires.

I have not had one on my Max blowout (knock on wood), but that was not the case with my wife's old Eclipse Spyder. We had the car a month and had a blowout on the interstate.

I've never heard of a 6th gen blowout (well, other than the one in this post). I looked at tirerack.com, there's only two mentions of blowouts in the 300 most recent posts.... doesn't sound like they're "prone" to blowouts to me.

Update

Just an update... I went by the Goodyear store and had a guy that works there take a look at the cracks on the sidewalls of the tires. He said it's not just cracks, but a sidewall split. He said he would not recommend taking any long trips on them.

UGH. Time to shop for new tires and they will NOT be Goodyears.

At 22k and 10 months old,I had the split in the inside of all 4. I took them to Good Year and they adjusted them all. It costs me $328 plus $25 each for road hazard.

When it was up on the grease rack at my frinds garage he noticed a small split on the inside wall. If you can look behind the tire while the car is on the ground, you will possible see it. It looked like a small jagged cut. My car was purchased in Sep of 2003.
