Lowering my Maxima

Hey all, I am new to the forum, also this is my second Max. I love my 04 SL, problem is there is to much gap between the fender and tires. I have been reading about the defective struts on the new Max, I wouldn't dare install lowering springs when the factory struts are known to fail. Is there an aftermarket manufacturer that I can purchase a complete lowering suspension? I have set of 18" that I want to install but I have to lower the ride to properly set it off.

Thanks,
Mike

Eibachs On Stock Struts

I installed a set of Eibachs on my car over 10 months ago. Since then, I have logged over 8,000 miles on them and have not had any problems with the stock struts.

If you are going to change out your springs it is recommended to change out your struts also. The stock struts will eventually blow out with performance springs installed. Do it all at once and save some money in the long run. I have a 5.5 gen and am running Maxspeed springs with Tokico HP Blues.

www.southwestautoworks.com (602)795-1800 is a great place to shop with really competitive prices. Ask for Steve and tell him George Blair referred you.

I checked activetuning's site but they don't have the front shocks in the maxima section yet. Is it the koni's on the altima section?

The rear shocks are available now, but the we're still finalizing everything for the front struts.

D@activetuning...

I thought I read somewhere the fronts were done....

And that some ppl have them in already.... If you read the previous threads.

Please Clear all this up cause I was 100% under the impression the fronts were done.

Our forum member '04 maxse' has the Koni fronts. So are you saying the KYB fronts are in process of being finalized? Whats better, the Konis you've got or the KYBs your in process of finalizing?

Could I just change the springs and struts for the front? The rear seems to be sitting low enough for me and I don't see a need to change the rear suspension. BUT, I don't want the car to handle like *** if I don't change the rears....so, what would you suggest.

The rears are custom kyb adjustable shocks. The fronts are custom koni adjustable struts. There is one guy with them, he is our test victim

By adjustable, it means you can change the dampening, not the height. So you can adjust the stifness.

Based on our experience with the Altima (which is the same chassis), the rears will make the biggest difference....so if you're going to do one, do the rears. The KYB rears are available now here:

I have been running Eibach's for almost a year and 18000 miles with no problems. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, knock on wood. Looks like ActiveTuning just might be my one stop x-mas shopping stop!!!

Rememeber, when you ordered I told you that the struts were not ready just yet. We're VERY close to finalizing, and by paying prior you've held your spot in line (so you'll be the first public maxima guy to get these ) Besides our tester of course! Be patient, it'll be worth it!

We're working as fast as possible, but we're not trying to comprimise quality at the same time.
