Aftermarket Navi

Has anybody install an aftermarket navigation system to your Max ?
I'm planning to get one in my car and still making decisions on which brand should I get ... So I would like to hear everyone's opinion. My first choice would be this http://www.avic-n1.com/

I looked at the AVIC-N1, then went with a plug-n-play Garmin 2620 instead. I didn't want to have to have to hack into my electrical system, remove my existing audio, etc., and the cost of the AVIC unit + installation was twice what I paid for the Garmin. With the Garmin I was up and running as soon as it came out of the box and I plugged it in. Aside from DVD and MP3 play (which I don't care about), the 2620 does about everything the Pioneer does as well as a few it doesn't.

It's all in what you want and how much you want to pay. But you'll appreciate the NAV, whichever one you get.

I have the Garmin 2620 also. Thing is awesome. I was in my bro-in-laws CLK430 and my navigation unit worked better then his. Go figure.

Hi! Can I pls ask those guys who installed aftermarket navi into their maxima, why they didn't get the one from Nissan? Is there anything wrong with it? Or is iit just a 'price" issue?

Thanks guys!

It is a "price" issue, joemax, I talked to my dealership, he told me that to build the factory Navigation system in my max wil cost me at least 5K , that's just too much ...sorry I can not afford that much.
I thought about getting the Pioneer AVIC-N1 but I came across to Pioneer AVIC-N2 ... here is a source

Check out the voices..there is Zappa (Valley Girl)..."You have like reached your destination!"

Far cheaper than OEM and more practical.

joemax, Magellan 700 is the cheapest among these three gadgets, my personal advice, either AVIC-N1 or N2, N2 just has not been out yet, but I'm sure I'll get myself N2.

Couple things:

1. The dealer didn't have an SE like I wanted with nav when I got my car.

2. Also, I don't like the little joystick thingie you have to use to input addresses, POI's, etc., nor do I like the fact you have to pull over and stop to input info.

3. Last but not least, I figured a "portable" unit could be used in any of our 3 cars, rather than pay someone 2 grand apiece for them.

For whoever asked, my Garmin 2620 lists for around $1299, but I got it online for less than a thousand bucks.

Can you mount the Garmin 2620 to the windshield via a suction mount or something like it? I don't like the idea of a mount being on my dashboard.

I was wondering if anyone has installed an aftermarket nav, in place of the bose factory radio.
If you have were are a few questions i do have;
1. Will the speaker that is mounted in the roof still be functionable
2. With the harness for the stearing wheel controlls, did all the features work
3. Did you lose any functionablity with the new nav compaired to the stock radio

What nav did you install and how does it work.

Thanks alot guys

Nope, none of us have done that, ever.

Speaker in the roof? WTF?
Yes, you need a PAC module
Nope.

Many. Eclipse, Pioneer and others.

I think you need to start reading before posting and asking questions that have already been answered.
