Cabin filter
Was changing the oil and air filter in my wifes 04 SL yesterday and thought I look at the cabin filter. Had to read the manual to find out where it was and after reading how to access it, I changed my mind. Has anyone replaced theres yet and how much trouble is it to gain access? Seemed like a real PITA.

I haven't done this yet, but others here have. You need to remove your glove box, and that gives you straight access to the incabin filter. Others here could give a better estimate of the time and exact work required. My son says he does it on his car in 15 minutes. But he is very fast, and it may take a normal person a little longer.

Do you smoke in your car? That effects the filter life. There's nothing more fun than getting in a chain smokers car and turning on the heat/ac and getting your nicotine fix for the day
The only way to know how often to change it is to actually take the glove box off and look at the filter to see how nasty it is. 15K or 12 Months is a good start, but it depends on the conditions where you drive.
