What engine oil is everyone using? I like Mobile 1 synthetic, but I heard if u use it, u should wait 20k until engine is really broken in. Is this true?

DeusExMaxima - Nissan engineers suggest waiting 20K before switching to synthetic, in order that the parts can fit together better, resulting in a more efficiently running engine. It seem synthetic oil is so good it prevents the engine parts from the normal breakin/fitting together process, which can cause problems later in the life of the engine.

I usually switch to synthetic around 60K, but I would feel fairly safe switching at 10k if I desperately wanted to switch.

In spite of the promos Mobil does saying it is fine to switch on day one, I would not switch until I felt the engine was properly broken in and running efficiently.

Lightonthehill: Now that u mention it, I put in Mobile 1 in my Spec V from day one and it started to rattle a bit on acceleration and it wasnt from bad gas, cuz i used high octane gas. I dont know what it was though. Ill wait, 10-20k before putting in the Mobile 1. Thanks for clearing it up
