aftermarket pillar vane rotors

I am getting a little tired of my rotors warping. They were warped pretty bad starting around 11K but the original tech said they weren't that bad and told me I was over 11K so they were no longer under warranty. At about 22K I took it in because of an engine noise (high pitch rattle/slipping just below 3K RPM). The manager (Team Nissan, Chris Bruder) test drove it tyring to figure out what it was. Well they couldn't figure out where the noise was coming from but he did fix my rotors by shaving them under warranty. But now with 30K I have the rotors warping again.

Are there any good quality OE sized rotors?

#1 the tech lied. 9 times out of 10, your brakes are warrantied up to 12k, not 11k. I'd look into somethin like stillen or to that effect

I've had front brake rotor warping on many different makes and models of cars. This is usually due to the fact that the rotors are cast. When cast, there exist in the rotors stresses from the metal colling at different rates. Once the rotors have been heated up by breaking a few times, these stresses act to warp the rotor. Usually, 1 turning will fix the problem since, by that time, the rotors have heated up enough to relieve most of the stress areas in the rotors so oce the have been turned or re-finished, you should be good.
However, once I rech the point where I can no longer get break work done under warrenty, the first thing I do is go out and get new rotors from....are you ready for this?...Autozone. Just get the standard set they sell. Most are made in Canada where they cast oversized rotors...HEAT them...then turn them down to specs. I have never had a warping problem with rotors from Autozone and I have done this on three different cars. I swap out the rotors myself since, with a Haynes or similar manual, the work is quite easy and doesn't take special tools (usually). Total cost for doing it myself is A LOT less than having the dealership do the work, even if I have to buy a tool or two to do the work myself, plus I get to keep the repair manual.

I have had a fitting problem with them on a 02 Cherokee.

And Smoken'04, Do you know if stillen does anything other than drill the nissan rotors? I have heard reports on this forum stating that the stillen rotors are nissan's rotors that have been cross drilled. And if the normal nissan rotors warp, what makes these any different?

So were can we get aftermarket rotors? Ive heard Irotor makes them, but doesnt have them listed on their site. Also on ebay a guy has a listing for 04-05 brembo rotors but they dont have them listed on their site either so apparantly that guy doesnt know what hes selling. I NEED rotors bad and cant find anything worth buying. Maybe a maxima.org sponsor could help us out.

Has it been verified that the Sillen rotors are just OEM rotors that have been cross drilled. I have been looking for replacements for mine also.

With so many complaints with the stock rotors, why won't someone in the aftermarket community made a replacement? They would make a killing.

your brake rotors should be covered up to the 36,000 mile warranty. i've done several maximas in the 20-30,000 mile range under warranty.... come to think about it, I worked on a 04 max with 21,000 miles for the brake shimmy yesterday. it was covered under warranty. by this point in time, I would have just replaced the rotors under warranty.
Come to Regal Nissan in Roswell. PM me if your interested and i'll tell you who to talk to.
