Deus...your lights look awsome on your black Max, not too dark just perfect. I saw a silver Max with tinted lights, did not look good, and when i read this thread i did not think the tint was a good idea, but yours is a different story, nice (IMO).

Ok, I just ripped my tailights out about a hour ago.

Ignore those tabs in the back, they confused the crap out of me to. I have no clue what they are for but you don't have to touch them.

All you have to do is take the nuts off those two brass studs sticking out and then pull pretty hard on the assembly. Its scary the first time taking it off. First one took me about 30-40 minutes. After the first one I was a pro so the econd one only took me 3 minutes to rip off.

I installed 2 LED's with 25 lights on them. They don't light up the whole housing like regular bulbs do but they look cool when they come on. I love the instand on instant off look. I will try posting pics if I can find my damn USB card reader. Its buried around here somewhere.

Next job is to order 2 more LED's to replace the turn signal.

EDITED: I R DUMB.

Quick question, anyone know what bulbs are used in the center brake light assembly? I would like to replace those too.

Doc i dont think it would be a good idea to put white LEDs' inside a red housing, you are better off with going with red, they will be brighter.

I red this from superbrightLEDs.com

"For best results the LED color should be the same as the lens color. A red lens will filter out all but the red portion of the light so if the light is all red, none or very little light will be blocked by the lens "

Side note. Since the housing is already red I think its best if you purchase the white 3157 bulbs. Would most likely be brighter.

Now that I think about it you are right jcberb. Editing my post to remove that. I will post the pics(they are kinda crappy. Might have to retake them) tonight if I have the time. At work right now.

This is what I bought. 3157 bulbs.

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...gi?product=CAR

They look ok. Once I get the pics up you will see the coverage of the light in the housing. Not near as good as regular bulbs. But I like them because of the instant on. Its not much but it gives the drivers behind you a split second extra reaction time.

I totaled my last car in November so I am all about safety now. Every extra advantage I can get I am going for.

Next up, my turn signals. If anyone wants to do the signals you MUST get the RL-650 Load Resistor kit. I plugged the LED bulb in the signal for the heck of it and it looked like it was on speed. Will install next week.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think you guys will like the looks of it.

Here's DocHollidays pics and more info:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....led+taillights

I was excited to do this but it just seems that the way our tails are setup that it just won't look that good. I had those in my F-350 and the light didn't spread hardly at all, it looked like to small spots, although those small spots were bright, it looked weird.

Yeah in looking at the way the bulbs sit in there, the spider would have no where to spread out, bummer...

...just watch out for those "bored" cops who will pull you over for having a different shade of red tails.... That happened to me with a while ago, but it happened in PA..
Adding LEDs are nice but watch out for the tint... But then again, the LEDs are bright so the cops might not recognize the shade when its lit..

I can't wait for the results.. good luck

How many fasteners do you remove? I remove the two nuts near the trunk and I cannot get the tail light out.

You take the white platic things off the two studs and under it is an 8mm nut. Take the nuts off and pull kind of hard and lights pop out as a whole unit.
