Have you guys.......
Have you guys actually been taking in your max's every couple thousand miles to have the scheduled maint done or do you just perform the routine check yourself? Seems like they do a pretty basic tune up like oil change and tire rotation and just glance at a few other things. If so, what do they normally charge for the sched maint and is it worth it?
Also, does taking in (or not taking in) your car for the sched maint have an affect on your warranty? In other words is it mandatory to have your oil changed by a Nissan tech if you're capable of changing your own oil?

I had inquired about the same issue. Some of the guys on the forum are against paying however many HUNDRED dollars for the scheduled maintenance. I asked my dealer what my 30k was going to cost me...$498.00 was the response. When i look at the list of things that are included in the service, they are simply things you can probably do on your own. It is just their time that you are paying them for. Granted i have neve changed the oil in my car, and have paid for someone to do it, however you are really paying for the labor.
As far as the warranty is concerned, i asked the Nissan dealer by me the same question. And of course he responded YES. If a problem occurs that is due to negligence of maintenance on your part, it will probably not be covered under the warranty. Was what i was being told bull...perhaps. I still have not decided whether or not i am taking my Max in for a $500.00 scheduled bank withdrawal, or if i should just purchase the parts myself and do it.

Lowkey,
Most of the regular maintenance I did was not at the dealer. This is not a problem for them according to my service rep.
However, I did decide to do the 30k with the dealer. Many people are against this, but I just figured after 30k, I would let them have a "tune" at it. Plus, I love my car!
BTW, my dealer offered 2 packages. One for $300 an one for $500. The $500 option seemed to have a lot of needless stuff. I also got a coupon in the mail for 10% off and paid about $290 with taxes.
Its was also a good time for me to have my Skyview replaced under recall and some other minor issues.

Thanks for the responses.
The reason I ask is because I've been changing my own oil (which I'm quite sure I know how to do) and have 5900 miles on my max and the Service Engine Soon light came on. Do they reset something when you go to take it in and I'm getting the warning because I haven't taken it in for what appears to be a huge waste of money or could there be something wrong already? It appears to be driving perfectly normal and I put the best gas and oil in the car.
I've scheduled to have it looked at tomorrow but I don't want them bs-ing me saying the problems occured due to the fact that I haven't brought it in and had my windshield wiper fluid level checked.
A friend of mine (Mercedes owner) advised against changing oil in custom cars because dealers have to reset something in the programming that indicates the oil has been changed and if that isn't reset it appears (if you were to run a diagnostic) as though the oil hasn't been changed which can trigger service lights. Maybe he's just lazy. Is anyone else who changes their own oil experiencing any probs?

As long as you can show the maintenance has been done (keep receipts) there shouldn't be any problem. There is no requirement, nor can they require, that they do all the maintenance.
I get free oil changes from my dealer, but it's easier to just go by Jiffy Lube or similar. Other stuff (like brakes, etc) I have reputable independent shops that I like and trust. The dealer gets all the warranty stuff, and that's about it.

I don't know if the Nissan guys can look into it at the dealership, but I know my other car you could ask for a print-out of all the work that's been done to the car -- which would come in handy if I ever want to sell it.
