Front and Rear Maplight switcheroo
Front and Rear Maplight switcheroo
I removed the front maplights, and the rears..The ones in front are 12V 3.4 watts, the rears are 10 watts...the rears are larger. Anyone know what these things are called? They have no number embossed on them..and the manual has a - where the bulb number should be listed, anyone know? I think the fronts are T6, but im not sure about the rears. T6 front, T10 rear? Anyone wanna shed some light on this subject? I stuck the rear one in the front and it was much brighter..i guess it does not really matter, as long as the length is correct.
Yeah I put blue wedge bulbs in the footwells and it looks pretty cool, i wanted to put blue in the top too...prolly wouldnt be bright enough but if i get 10 watt then it might work, atleast it will look cool. I think the part number is 3022
Ya know, the stock are only 3.5 watts...the Piaa's are 10...and they are probobly a tighter fit too, i put the back ones in the front just to see if it would fit, and whoa what a change. But when i got it all done ill take pix of the blue interior
Anybody has a recommendation for PIAA T6s online? I found a few on ebay, some from "Intrigue Motorsports" but they want more for shipping than for the damn bulbs themselves... f'ing people trying to pass the paypal fees to buyers suck!

Interior lights? Exactly which ones are you talking about?

the bulbs are coated blue, but they dont shine that blue. my camera phone camera sucks so it looks blue in the picture. when you enter the car, it looks so much brighter and clear, then the stock bulbs.
Viguera, I bought my piaa bulbs from www.optauto.com

Yeah, like bubb rubb and lil sis said so well....."Its only fo decoration man, its only decoration"
Ill post pix tonight, I changed every interior bulb with blue ones. I bought $3 for a two pack at autozone and they look great, just like the ones in that piaa pic that cost 5x more. They are a useful blue tint, and look great on the frost interior, really sets it off. Im just keeping myself busy while I wait on the arrival of the fogs turns and corners.

from the whistle tip video...maybe u just havent see it, its funny. Im happy with the interior color now, it gives the interior a different look at night..without the intensity of neons, more subtle...i like it.
These 10W things in the front are too dang bright...Took them out and ordered bulbs with 4 blue LED's inside each, and 2 194 bulbs with 5 LED's on each, ill move the incadescent blue bulbs to the front and rear drs (too bad theres red on the covers) I don't really care about blinding white light output, i prefer the deep blue look the floor had, but the maplights were flooding it out. 26 LED's & 4 blue incadescent..its gonna gonna look trick!

Im on the org now more than monster.com...this thing is addictive.

Be careful not to press on the glass when pushing the bulb in, hold it on the metal..I broke one ($1.50 one, not a $15 piaa lol) by bending one of the contacts away fromt he glass because I didnt make sure to press only on the metal. Use something not made of metal to pop out the rears...to avoid any possibility of blowing a fuse. The plastic cover in the front is really in there good...I was afraid of breaking the tabs on it because it is in so tight...not something I want to repeat so i just have it out for now...Probobly a week till the LED's are in, hopefully in time for the rest of the light stuff.

Festoon bulbs..(the ones int he maplights) have a + and - side and can only be put in one way from what I have read. They also say to install one at a time, test the system, and do another...because changing all the bulbs at once and flicking the switch could blow a fuse or damage the bulbs if installed incorrectly. These bulbs dont say which side is which nor do the sockets.
Took the bulbs back and they gave me new ones, they said it happens often with these cheaper basic bulbs. During the 1st go around I wasn't too careful about not touching the glass part or just careful in general, put them in Sunday let's see how long they last!!!
Finally got the $36 1"x3" box in the mail ive been waiting 2 weeks for, after it was returned back to them with a damaged shipping label. (4) 4 LED festoons + (2) 5 LED 195's for the footwells. Very carefully put them in and WOW they look exactly like what I wanted. Definately reccomend them, I like how the LED's warm up like an HID bulb too. The Footwell's are incredibly brighter, and they are so blue that they made the once blue looking incadescent bulbs in the footwells look dim white! If you're going for color, this is the only way to go, however everyone seems to want the 'bright' look, id rather not be blinded. I think im going to order LED's for the 4 doors, trunk and glovebox, which the doors now have the blue bulbs that used to be in the footwells. Car looks like it has neons in it now, the blue glow is absolutly SICK, theres no match for LED's.
I took pics last night but was too tired to upload them to my pc. I dunno, I thought it would be better to cover the flash and shoot in the dark, pics are black, took shots with lights on in the garage and you cant see the blue. ill see if I can fix the brightness, Ive seen interior photos of lights done on here, so ill doctor it up and put them on this thread. Maybe its one of those things that can only be appreciated in person. Looks SIIIICK!!!
