new seats for the max.
I haven't seen a single poster mention replacing their seats on the 6th gen. At least not in the last 21 months.
I feel this is for several reasons:
The 6th gen OEM seats are easily the best I have ever had in a vehicle. The days when improved seats were one of the first mods to be put in a new vehicle are long past for the Maxima.
The safety equipment involved in instantly moving the headrest properly up and forward during a collision is rather complex and expensive. It will also probably be illegal to disable it. We are fortunate in that the Maxima is one of the first cars (after Volvo and Saab) to have this feature, and it is standard in all Maximas.
Those with driver preferred package have dual memory systems for seat, mirror, steering wheel settings, plus heating systems and multiple power adjustments for the seats themselves. Replacing these seats will require some very knowledgeable engineering, else all those features could be negated.
I would imagine a Maxima with replacement seats might be a problem when trade-in time comes.
In a nutshell, I would be very surprised if anyone was able to replace the 6th gen Maxima seats and have a totally satisfactory result.
JMHO

Yes, they are pretty comfy seats.
QUESTION....anybody have the squeaks in theres? Im 6'2" and about 220, im sure the weight has something to do with it.....it freaking squeaks when I move forward and backward sometimes.
Anyone else? Anything that can be fixed other than losing weight?

also, the seats are equiped with side airbags in them.
-------------------------------------------------------

Active Head Restraints
Active head restraints actually move forward (toward your head) when you're rear-ended, helping to reduce the chances of whiplash injuries for you and your front-seat passenger. The system mechanically moves the seat's head restraint upward and forward, supporting the occupant's head. Springs in the seat structure return the head restraint to its normal position after a collision.

Since they're built into the front seats - not the door panels - Maxima's side-impact supplemental air bags move with you when you adjust the seat to help protect your head and chest areas in certain side impacts. And above you, roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags help protect front and rear passengers from injuries.

I think SilverSixth would have it right; an upholstery change (color or material) makes sense. I couldn’t see replacing the whole seat. But each to their own.

Some others on here have complained of the lumbar support popping. I don't exaclty know how or what that entails but I recall reading several posts with people complaining.
Over all the seats are the most comfortable ones I have had in a car to date. Just wish they didn't squeak. But it's all better now
