WIring an amp
You'll have to drill through the firewall to gain access into the engine compartment. However there is a great spot to do it. Look on the drivers side by the brake pedal. Above and to the left of the carpeting and wires there will be a small area of metal. You can drill through there with no problems. When I get out of work I can take a few pictures inside and show you where to drill. Don't be afraid of doing it. I too was worried about drilling though my car. Looking back on it it's no sweat.
Yeah, I thought I was gonna have to drill. I just really have no idea where to do it. Also, I had a 95' Corolla and I was able to run a cable once without having to drill, but I don't remember where it passed. If you can send me the pics, I'll really appreciate it. Just finished wiring an infinity basslink, and the only connection remaining is power from the battery....
Some tips:
(1) Make sure you have a punch so you have a pilot for the drill bit.
(2) Have an idea of what size hole you will need...assuming you have one, it should be about the size of the grommet you are using. Make sure you run the wire throuh a gromet so that the wire do not get cut on the firewall.

I drilled from inside the car, you can't get to area from inside the engine compartment. Drill in the middle of that open space. I drilled too far to the left as you can see in the second pic.
I started with a really small bit and moved up to a 1/2" bit It's easy. Just be prepared for the drill to bite into the metal.
Nismo...make this a sticky for where to drill for an amp!!!
For the ground in the back I recomend pulling out the back seat cushion and unscrewing the seatbelt bolt and then putting the ground clip through that bolt and re tightening it down. Works great and sounds clean. The clips to remove the seat cushion can be found if you feel around. All you have to do is pull the pin and the seat will release itself.

You need to unhook that wire, pull back out, goto your local sound shop and ask them to sell you a firewall wire grommet and ask them what size hole to drill to fit the grommet and then make your current hole to that size. If you don't put a grommet on there then you will either blow a fuse or burn your car when the insulation is worn through which probably won't be long with that type wire isulation. I am definitely going to take your advice on the location to drill the hole though. I just bought an Infinity BassLink and will be running 8gauge Stinger to the trunk to power it. Also replacing the stock tweeters with Kicker KS13 Tweeters. I will try to take some pics of the install.
Wow, some of you guys need to slowly put down those drills. When I installed my amp, I pushed thru a 4G wire down the car's main wire loom. Which sit just behind the glove box. And "no," it was not easy. It took some time but it went thru with out having to drill any holes.
AAAAhhh so mad! Just passed the power wire from the trunk, thu the driver's side, under the driver's seat, and it fell short from the firewall by 6 inches... SIX INCHES! I bought 10 feet, now will have to buy 20 feet and pass it through the car's main wire loom like agusta did.
Oh and the ground wire? Tried to hook it to the screw that you see if you pull on the cushion for the backseat (a piece that doesn't fold down with the rest) since it already had a ground wire connected to it. Well, I can't take that cushion out, and it's too narrow to stick a screwdriver there. Maybe I'll try tomorrow. This was not a very productive afternoon...

drill the hole - 2 minutes
run the wire driver side in molding to trunk
forget the grommet - theres no reason the wire will wear through
pull up the carpet in the trunk...sand a spot...mount ground w/ self tapping screw
this is a 15 min job

not 15min but not 4 hours. It depends on how confident you are in the overall install process.
As far as the seat cushion.
There are two clips on each side of the car at the front of the cushion (where your knees would be if you sit). you pull on them and you can totally remove the cushion and see the unibody and the bolt I am talking about. You will need a rachet to get the bolt off. shouldn't be that hard. Wakkus check your PM box!

I just ran my power wire through that same place. Thanks for pic, it helped!!
And BTW, I didn't use a gromet... there's so much rubber on my wire, it's not going through. besides, there's a fuse for protection!
