Front grill

Is there a way to deal with the pealing and restore this? I prefer the stock grill over any aftermarket stuff.

I like this idea. Should I sand it with 2000 grit and just feather the clear coat? Never done this before.

Won't turn out the same unless you use the right clear coat. Buy a new one. And spray the new one with clear. Preventive vice corrective. You could try the wet sand method, however you are better off removing all the clear coat from the grill then respray with clear. Scuffing won't work unless you use the same clear that is originally put on the bumper. Good luck post pics before and after with a writeup on how to do it. Would help others with the same situation.

There's no wet sand technique that will restore the OEM grille. You could probably use some chemical "not sure what kind" to strip off the top layer of the grille and re-clear it, other than that save yourself the stress and hasle and purchase another one

I agree, wet sanding won't work because if you sand the "chrome" you'll ruin it. Someone on another forum had a plastic chrome grille that comes painted from the factory and used Goof Off to remove the paint without damaging the chrome underneath, maybe it'll work to remove the clear coat as well.

If you are dead set on keeping the stock grill, I would sand off the chrome, then wet sand the heck outa it, then once you get that sucker nicely prepped, black it out.

get a new one, the early models had inferior finishes. I wrecked my 04 grille and got a new OEM replacement in 2010 and drove it for years without an issue

If you don't mind me asking, how much did that set you back?
