Lower valence mesh grille

Hey guys I just finished installing a street scene speed grille on my Max, and now I'm looking for the lower valence (front bumper) matching grille. I have the Stillen body kit, and they don't make that grille. Now, I found a grille that looks like it could fit. It's for the lower valence of a 2000-2001 Maxima. Here's the pic:

http://www.streetsceneeq.com/product..._id=0&x=13&y=9

http://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/SS95077320.htm

I just wanted to know if those of you that have or had a Maxima from those years would happen to know if the size of the front bumper hole(vertical and horizontal) is the same or bigger than that of the 6th gen. If it is, then I might just buy this and make it fit for my car.

I am trying to photochop and blend this two pics together, and the insert looks to be longer and the same size. Of course, I don't know if the dimensions are the same....

Yeap, that might work. Don't know if the 01 Maxima's bumper grille is the same size, but it might work....

Will I find this same diamond shaped pattern on a grille found in Home Depot??
If so I'd definitely buy it there....

I know home depot sounds good cuz of price, but you want it to match. Just be careful of it looking cheesy, thats all. I prefer if the grills match.

Yes, please keep us posted as to the fit. Take pics of the install. I assume it will be a custom installation. Did you ask SSE for advice on this custom install?

It looks like it will need to be trimmed a bit to dit, since the shape is slightly off. DO you know the dimension of the mesh? It should be slightler larger than the opening so that the mesh can be folded to fit, much like the upper grill.

That's what I'm asking them, the freakin' dimension numbers! I said "look, I have a 2003 Max (not true, but they hate to install on cars with bodykits from other companies) and I'd like to get a 2001 Max's valence grille and make it fit on my car. Which are the dimensions of that grille???"

Waiting for their response...

I know what you mean about having to fib a little when dealing with these car companies. They dont understand people like us who are a bit creative with our cars and try to make certain parts fit because the aftermarket doesnt really support our cars.

I think Street Scene is nearby me. I should pay em a visit and see what the dimensions are.

Hrm, the lower valence really does add to the look of the front end. Thats the only part of the Maxima I am at odds with. I love the sides and rear end, just always disliked the skinny look to the front end and the crappy OEM grille they put on it.

I'd really appreciate it if you can check the grille dimensions for me... Or just get a lower valence grille bigger than the lower valence hole on our car. As you know I'm in Puerto Rico, so everything is far away from me.....

I think the lower grill would make the front look more dramatic and freally sharp. I just wish I had some free time soon to go to Costa Mesa and chat with SSE. Wakkus will probably have his grill by then.

I just measured the opening on the front valence for our car with the stillen BK installed, and it is 4" high and 32" long on top (longer edge). If somebody with a 2000 or 2001 Max could check the dimensions on their car, we can see if it is bigger than our car's. And if it is, I'll order it right away.

I think if i saw a guy measuring my car, i would figure he isnt trying to steal it. But ur right, u have to be careful when measuring stuff like that. People MAY get wrong idea.

Any news on the size of the valence for the 2000-2001 Max? I'm waiting to have that info in order to order and install the SSE valence grille. I contacted the 5th gen forum here, but nobody answered. Also I asked SSE for the dimensions, but they haven't answered either....

My suggestion, go to home depot and get some cheap gutter grill just for a test fit, to see how you like the look. Make sure you have some gloves on and cut it to fit. The stuff can be very sharp. Personal experience when I played with it on the BMW....only a few bucks and some cutters.....watch the edges, they can also scratch the paint. Shop around at a few places. Not sure if the one posted in your pic will fit, but again, a few bucks, snippers, you might make something work.

With these though, zip ties tend to connect them.....pick them ups as well, black ones. Hope this helps.

Im not sure teh Home Depot $hit looks the same as the SSE grill material. In all likelihood, it does not and would look cheeeeesy. I asked on the 5th Gen forum but no one answered either. Im still looking for a 01 Max to measure.
