Should I go to another dealership? what do you guys said when you had yours replaced?
They give me a price for $75 each for the chrome piece and 85 for installation.

Thank you

thats correct, the warranty is 12k on those... unless you can find a dealer that will hook you up..

i had the same problem, dealer "OK" to replace the strips. Heard the the fix could be worse than the problem.
I used some BLUE JOB, took the tarnishing right off. Looks brand new again.

Nicee... I will give it a try. A lot better than spending 200 dollars to replace it.
Thanks VQMAX95

i had mine replaced a few thousand miles ago when this thread was opened. The tech used a flat head screw driver to take the moldings off and chipped my paint job. On top of it he broke a few clips. I left my car there and got a rental car for free for a week.

I had also requested that BlueBatMobile make some vinyl strips for this, but we didnt get enough interest from the forum, to be exact it was only i and Dues that was interested in gettin black strips to match the moldings around the windows.

Same here except that I used Mothers polish to shine them up. Looks great, plus I did not know about warranty.

I knew the 12k mi part, but not the 1 yr part. I've had mine for 1yr 2 months, but only have 8k mi. Thenk the dealer will notice it's been over a year?

2004 Warranty Information Booklet
Page 6 What is not covered

Damage, Failures or corrosion from environmental conditions

"Corrosion of outer trim parts, such as moldings. However, corrosion of outer trim parts is warranted for 12 months or 12,500 miles, whichever comes first."

Mine have faded too, my dealer has ordered new ones under warranty for me since I was a 11.5 months and at 12,486 miles. Whew!!! I just made it. Oh, and a new grill too. I have asked to keep the old one so I can try some mod ideas on it. It hasn't peeled but it is faded a little more grey than silver/chrome.

Cleaned mine with white vinegar. Works well, you can also use "Never Dull" Chrome cleaner.

My 2004 Maxima is now outside of the 36 month warranty period. I have a 72 month extended warranty as well. Has anyone in this situation had it covered?

Did the whole thing right now, ok, it's fine, now they shine and bebore they were kinda witish.

I cant get them as shiny as the rear one though. When I wipe the product, it's shiny, but you can still see a slight haze at some places. When I wipe it there, there's a slight haze elsewhere.

I have no clue how long they will stay nice... I guess there's a defect in the stripe and they will tarnish in a month....

Anyone polished them? how are they after a while?

Mine gets dull also but I use the Turtlewax Polishing Compound and it comes out as new. Only thing is that you have to keep it up.

Or just use the Trimbrite blackout tape and don't worry about it again. Guess it also depends on the color you have. I have black and like the non chrome look.

Did vinegar work well? It would be way less messy than that silver polishing paste I used. I'm not 100% happy with the result, and it was a pain. I'll try vinegar and if it doesnt work I'll try some chrome polish I guess.

My 05 has the same problem. Nothing seems to work to make them shine. I even tried this. I use it on all my chrome but doesn't seem to help the chrome strips on the roof.

Need help chrome moulding

I have a 2007 maxima and the plastic on roof molding is bubbling up and peeling. My maxima has 80000 miles so I can't get them replaced. What would be the easiest way to get the rest of plastic off so I can polish them. I don't want to paint them because my maxima is grey.
