Major tire problem

Okay, my Max is an 04 and has about 12K miles on it. I've had a slow leak in my drivers side front tire for about a week and a half. The lowest it's gotten is 20psi before I fill it up. I just didn't have a chance to get to the tire place until today. So I go in for a flat repair and they come back telling me that the tire can't be fixed. They bring me in the shop and show me my tire which the inside sidewall is like mangled. There are 3 huge slices in it. The guy told me that it could have blown out any minute and he has no idea how the tire is even able to hold air. He told me that the belts inside did some funky **** and pinched the wheel maybe when I hit a pothole or something. Anyways, he says I need a new tire, he doesn't have it in stock and it's going to cost $270. WTF?? He told me to bring it to the dealer b/c he said that it is really out of the ordinary and that he thinks Nissan or Goodyear will cover it by manufacturers warranty. I would take pics but it's dark and I'm hoping to bring it in tomorrow morning. Do you guys think this will be covered under warranty? It really looks like someone tried to slide the sidewall with a large knife. I'm talking deep 5-6 inch slices on the inside sidewall. Scary stuff considering I've been driving regularly thinking I just had a little nail in it or something stupid. Any feedback is much appreciated...

Check this out Bud. hope you get it fixed. Yes its partially covered by goodyear. They'll credit you the threadwear of the tires. Call goodyear company and have them tell you what local shop to go to get it replaced. I would upgrade to new tires and pay the difference. People have gotten the F1's which they say are great.

I know I'm not very loyal to this site. I come here when I have a problem and you guys always got the answers. This site kicks ***!! Is the F1 made by Goodyear. I'm going to try and convince the guy that I feel that these are extremely unsafe and try to get 4 new tires.

yeah f1's are made by goodyear so they wont give you a problem about getting them. Good luck. its a dangerous thing to have the tires split like that. great thing u caught it in time w/o you driving on them.

Okay, briefly reading the other threads, I guess the F1 is a summer tire. I do a lot of snow driving unfortunately. Is there another Goodyear tire that is all season besides the RSA's b/c the RSA's suck in the snow too.
