Put another check in the box for the 6th Gen Maxima

Lexus, Nissan Are Big Winners in New Vehicle Satisfaction Study
Date Posted 09-16-2005

TUSTIN, California — Lexus edged Cadillac as the brand with the highest overall owner satisfaction, and Nissan garnered the most individual nameplate honors in the 2005 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards from automotive consultant AutoPacific Inc.

The VSA survey calculates owner satisfaction in 45 specific areas related to a vehicle's operation, comfort, safety and the overall purchase/lease experience. The 2005 ratings reflect input from buyers and lessees of new vehicles acquired from September 2004 through January 2005.

The 2005 vehicle with the highest overall satisfaction in the survey was the Nissan Titan full-size pickup, while the highest rated car was the Nissan Maxima . Nissan vehicles won or tied for first place in seven categories.

The only domestic product that was an outright winner in its category was the Lincoln Town Car, which placed atop the luxury/large car class. The Australian-built Pontiac GTO won the sporty car category, and the Chevrolet Equinox tied with the Hyundai Santa Fe at the top of midsize SUV.

Top-rated sports car was the Porsche 911, while the leading luxury car was the Jaguar XJ. The Scion xB topped the compact car category.

What this means to you: Nissan has keyed customer satisfaction to its on-going turnaround.

GREAT FOR NISSAN!!!!

As for the GTO, its no suprise to me that its getting discontinued. I knew it the second they decided to take a vintage muscle car and turn it into a sport compact looking design, I knew it was doomed.

Maybe next time Pontiac will learn from Ford and keep the GTO's muscle car image that can match the HP it comes with.

As for the Max....I really think Nissan did a great job fixing all the gliches the 04's had. Its great to see the company realise they're mistakes and quickly made the proper changes. The 06 should be absolutely flawless!

I'm assuming you mean just in Austrailia because the US is not stopping production anytime soon.

I agree they should have kept the original image. The new Mustang is SWEET and the GT gets a 0-60 in 5.1. However, I had the pleasure of driving the 05 GTO at an auto show last weekend and it is awesome. They are not discontinuing production. Where do you guys get your news?
