My brakes are driving me crazy
About two weeks ago my car started to make a high pitch noise almost like a cricket but it is constant. I narrowed it down to the brakes. My rear brake pads were worn down a bit but it wassn't metal to metal. I changed the rear brakes I used raybestos pads on it since I am plannig on moving up to drllied and slotted rotors when the weather breaks again. The noise is still there. I changed the front breakes today also. I am still getting the noise. I put that petroleum jelly stuff on all my contact points. My car has about 33000 miles on it. Please don't make fun of the pads I already know I could have done better. I just want to make it through the winter. My rotors arent warped that I can tell.

hey i had something like happen to one of my car if u take the pad and put an edge on the ends of each pad u know (taper) the pad that should help pervent the squealing it worked for me and i taked to a few techs and they told me it works and it worked for me they say the thing that causes the noise is the dust between the pad a rotor cuz the pad vibrats befor ti hits the rotor so the taper edges would help wiht the squeaking this should work for u let me know how it turns out

Any sort of powered sanding device. Palm sander, belt sander, even a detail sander. You just want a slight bevel to the edge.

From my experience, I usually go with Bendix IQ pads for the front and OEM pads in the rear. For the front, the OEM pads sucks in terms of fading once they heat up during traffic jam. For the rear, since Bendix doesn't make an IQ version I stick with the OEM to avoid squeeling.

Check wheel bearing.
Take out the pistons from the calipers. Clean them out, flush your system while your out there. Make sure to oil the pins, and check the lines.
Check master cyl pressure too.
Maybe this will help...
