Do's and Dont's about tailights

Everyone knows that when you drill into something eventually itll go through, well i anticipated this "penetration" ill call it, and it erupted prematurely. I was drilling a hole in my taillight assembly and WHAmo it went through crack the inside refelector in half. So im posting this so that none of you who want to try this, dont try it.

My project today consisted of installing strobes lights in the third row of the tail light assembly. Not knowing that there was another layer of "shiet" between the plastic and the reflector, i drilled right through it and broke the reflector.

P.S.
iM looking for a passenger side rear tailing for an 05 max PM ME

did you try and force it through or did you let the drill bit do its job to cut through? maybe if you was to let it cut through without forcing it would it have been ok?

i put my strobe in the back up light...all i did was with a dremel...or rotary tooll i just made a groove for the wire to go snug enuff between ( cant spell right now...kinda drunk so esay now..) the plasctic and the buld holder...it worked fine... i was expecting the breakage when i was doing this so i didnt drill anything and went this way instead... i also put them in the cornering lights... what a pain to get in there... but yeah... one of them i didnt make enough groove so when i put the bulb holder back in..kinda cut the wires just a littl...they work now but i know i will soon have to replace.. just for the cut wire so if you go this way just make sure you make a big enough groove...

sorry about your light...

So you guys use the strobes just for shows and stuff right not on the street? It's kinda funny I've been going to the Long Beach Grand Prix (CART race) since I was a little kid. The Pace cars have always had strobes (probably since the late 80's) I always wanted to get them back then, before cops used them and before they were used for shows. I looked and looked back then and you couldn't buy them, now they have them at Pep Boys! A little remininece, sorry...

Oh yeah that sucks about your light...here's a new one on EBAY for $110

And a used one with a CHIP in it for $49

They better be using them for shows... I know of people that have gotten into SO much trouble for it that it's not even funny. All it takes is the wrong place and the wrong time, and it's over...

That su$cks, next time use a dremel tool at a low speed, those tools are designed for detail work and you can get them cordless too.
