Help with SWI-X installation
Help with SWI-X installation
Can anyone post some pictures of their installation of the SWI-X adapter to keep the steering wheel controls? It doesnt seem too complicated, but I cant figure out which wires behind the radio area are the correct ones I need to be looking for and splicing into. Any pictures you can post, or further instructions other than the sticky tutorial (pictures from that tutorial are no longer online), would be msot appreciated. Thanks!

I just had mine installed with my AVIC-N2, it took them a long time to figure it out but after a couple of hours he got it to work. Wish I could offer more help but I didn't see what he did...
the harness that your looking to splice into is not the main radio harness. Its the harness that plugs in the radio control underneath the information screen. Dont forget you gotta go to radio shack and buy those resistors they require and soulder them into the wires.
Pin 12, 13, and 14 on that harness are the wires you need.

so, if I have an aftermarket head-unit, would they have unplugged the steering wheel control harness, or would it still be plugged in below the information display? just curious if I should be looking for soemthing that's dangling and not plugged in.
