I loved the CObra but almost went to jail with it, I was spending money on it to go fast and it never saw the track. Funny thing is, as long as you drove normal it got 23-24 mpg out of it. I have had a stang since 1997 and it is time to grow up, I guess. Well, not really as I have not even had my first oil change and tne max has a cat back, y pipe, cai and a sway bar already. Once modding is in your blood it never leaves.....

Here We Go...

1979 Yaha-Hopper (mods: grind heads for ++ compression; drilled holes in airbox...got up to atleast 35mph )

1977 Ford Pinto (it had the sporty grill and never blew up )

1988 Ford Grenada (inherited from Mom)

1978 Ford Mustang 4-banger (got squished from behind)

1979 Pontiac TransAm 6.0 liter (Had a hack job of fiberglass bodywork but fun to drive)

1978 Datsun 280Z (3 week thriller before tourists totaled, lots of fun)

1986 Nissan 200SX (My first purchase)

1978 Porche 924 (LEMON owned it 3 yrs, got to drive it 3 weeks)

1984 Pontiac TransAm (3" exhaust, custom carb, killed by Hurricane Andrew)

1986 Mazda RX-7 (fun-2-drive, but leaked everything)

199? Olds Cutlass Supreme (atleast it didn't leak )

...really needing warranty coverage...

2001 Saturn L200 (most legroom and HP...)

Ridin' the bus for 6 months (took a break from Miami Traffic)

2005 Nissan Maxima!!!

I could take your thread title at face value and answer that the Datsun 710 was 'before the Max'. In other words, the Datsun 710 was redesigned and rebadged as the 'Datsun Maxima' twenty-five years ago.

But, taking your thread title the other way:

2004 Maxima SL
2000 Maxima SE
1993 Maxima
1985 Maxima
1985 Maxima (yes, two '85 Maximas)
1978 Datsun 200SX
1970 Olds Cutlass
1966 Olds Delta 88
1961 Pontiac Bonneville
1957 Chevy Bel Air
1955 Pontiac Star Chief
1953 Chevy 210
1949 Studebaker

I have been married a very long time, and there have always been other (not listed above) vehicles in our garage that belonged to my spouse. For instance, she has had at least one pickup on hand at all times for over twenty years. She has also had one Maxima - that is why I listed two '85 Maximas in the list above. Our son and daughter have had such vehicles as a Toyota Celica, Mazda RX7, Honda Prelude, and a 1967 candy apple red Chevy Camaro RS and a 1969 blue Chevy Camaro RS convertible in our garage before they left for college and marriage over twenty years ago.

I drove most of the vehicles in my list above from around 150,000 to 210,000 miles each.

Mine was an blackout '02 Altima SE loaded. Still kicking myself for trading it but just paid off the Max so starting to enjoy it more.

Other notable cars I had in the past are '68 Camaro RS (327 4sp), '67 Stingray (327 4sp), '80 Camaro Z28 (350 4sp) and in 1980 had a shot at a black '67 Shelby 4 sp for $12k and passed (it had 3 carbs on it and I did not want to pay for the gas) -what was I thinking

04 Maxima SE
97 GMC Yukon GT
94 Ford Probe GT
92 Pontiac Grand Prix STE
90 Honda CRX Si

The Yukon was the best vehicle of the lot.
The Pontiac was the worst piece of junk of the bunch.

Ok here we go:

1) 81 Malibu
2) 88 Buick Delta 88
3) 92 Toyota Tercel (I feel sorry for how hard that car was bagged)
4) 2000 Cougar (a car let out before its time. Great style for a ford)
5) 2000 TrailBlazer (still have it. Poor on Gas but actually really good)
6) 2005 Maxima (1st car with HP to play with loving it)

Next car will be a new SUV prolly an FX45 or Murano. 1st Nissan has really impressed me.

Man, you went from "rice" to "nice."

I had an old 1988 Maxima a long time ago.
It was baby blue, and cool.....at that time....I think they are ugly, now that I have this one.

For how nice your Maxima looks, that Intrepid is surprisingly ugly.

Still have a 2004 Ram 4x4 QC Hemi.

Before that:

2001 Durango
1996 Explorer
Crown Vic
Taurus Wagon
T-Bird
Capri
Fiat

Predominence of Fords because I got them at Employee pricing due to father in law.

As you can see they just keep getting bigger and take longer to wax! Seems to be a by-product of marriage and kids.

I had a 2001 Chrysler Sebring sedan. When I traded for the 2005 SL in Dec 2004 the Sebring had about 115K miles. It was a good car for the $.
