Silverstar?

This may be somewhat of a re-post but I was jw if anyone has had experience with H3 Silverstars, or Silverstars in general. I'm asking this because it's pretty much the last thing that I can get besides HID's. I first got Hypernetics in Hyper White and they lasted a week before one of them burnt out, and then i exchanged them for JDM Yellow and now the opposite bulb burned out. The shop that I bought them from was nice enough to give me a re-fund. So ya, any info on those would be great! Thanks

i've been running 9004 silverstars in my 3rd gen for a long time now, pretty pleased with its output and light color. there are however, mixed results from this forum when people used them. i have no issues with them, while some here said silverstars have a short lifespan.

comparison shot on my 3rd gen between the silverstars and XD5's. i'm also considering putting the silverstars into our fogs on the 6th gen.

Had silverstars int he fogs of my 6th gen, the difference is negligable...waste of money. Piaa plasma gt H3's are the closest thing to HID in terms of the color, and they look great. I have yellow in now and im kinda sick of it...but I had the PIAAs and one blew (late found the cover was off behind the blown bulb, that was probably why it blew, not bc of the bulb. IMO you will be impressed by plasmas for the $60 pair..and very dissapointed in what silverstars give you compared to stock (i.e. noone will notice except for maybe you if you look really hard at them, I even put one silverstar in and left one stock and was shocked to see how similar the color was)

don't we have silverstars in our fogs from factory? I think thats who makes our lights, that could be why they don't show any difference..

Sylvania does make the bulb, but it is not the Silverstar bulb with the blue coating. If you are going to put in new bulbs, I recommend MTEC bulbs on eBay. They matched my OEM HIDs well, and come with a lifetime warranty ($7 S&H for replacements).

my silverstars for my headlights lasted 1.5 years before I went to HID in my second gen. They were still working when I took them off. Maybe it is because they were 9004 headlights (don't think that had anything to do with it), but who knows

I Have the new SilverStars H3...went through 2 pairs until my shop called them up and a tech was involved. Now my new ones are definately brighter and have lasted 6 months. Much better. Next time I'm changing them to that bluish tint on the PIAA's.

ANY fingerprints/oil that accidently gets onto the glass will shorten the life of the bulb dramatically. I have never experience a silverstar bulb burning out after 3 days...

I've been running the Silverstars on my Ram's headlights and fogs for 2 1/2 years and never burned one out. In that application there is a noticable difference in output and whiteness over stock, but those aren't HID either.

Other than the short lifespan, they're a good alternative to HID's. I actually bought a complete set for my Viper, $150. But I've decided to fork out the $600 and get a complete HID upgrade including fogs . I'm runing Silverstars on my Z. Havent burned out yet!
