I gave it to RedLineMax to do some other R&D work for 6th Gen's who don't want to go the Header route. Sorry...

1. Want to see a dyno
2. Will the power gain be across the power band?
3. Install was 11 hours, correct?
4. Is that a picture of your motor out of the car?
5. Possibly a group buy?
6. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all daddies out there!

1. Dyno coming
2. This question will be answered after the dyno
3. 11 hours because we documented, weigh, and had a meeting over the best way to complete this mod in the future, so factor in R&D time since no one has done it before with a set of Hotshot headers on a 6th Gen Nissan Maxima. The consensus is leave your car overnight... (1 day+)
4. Motor out of the car is not mine, RedLineMax has more than 1 mechanic, that is someone else's project.
5. Not for me to say, but I dought it. RedLineMax does not make the headers, but they now have the expertise to install them on a 6th Gen. I would still contact them for a price quote...
6. Thanks...

Chern: Congratulations on pioneering an important mod for 6th Gen Maximas. As you know, I have been anxious to see if these fit. Hotshot told me they probably did not fit but you proved them wrong. I dont listen to people too much, but do my own thing and figure stuff out myself and apparently you do the same. I read this thread since your install and I am really impressed with your guts to take chance and get it done and show everyone how you did it. Good job and thank you!!!

you don't have to change it if you don't want to, but to get maximum performance yes. a mod like this usually leans the car out some, but if they don't lean it out much we might get by like it is..

You would get raped installation wise anywhere else because they would have to learn the same hard lessons we just did. I highly recommend it...

I suspected they would and I had to do it. I could tell by conversations they where guessing and they themselves had NEVER attempted it, IMO they where too busy consentrating on the bulk market of Altima's and their attitude was, Max sales won't be that high, why bother. Sometime in life you just have to say "What the ****".

I am extremely proud this worked out for our community, an owe a big thanks to my sponsor RedLineMax because with them or without them I was going to bring it to a shop and make it work. Corey (RedMax) owner of RedLineMax told me (Seriously) I want to do this for the 6th Gen community, let's go for it, well bro, the rest is now history. We not only installed it but wrote the procedures. Double Sweet...

Thanks bro for the thanks. My KYB rear adjustable shocks should be here this week, that's the next mod, peace bro...

It was a risk, I paid for the headers and RedLineMax and I did the R&D, install and drafted the procedures. If for some reason it failed, I would have been so screwed based on the complexity of part removal and the fact I would of had no way home if my ride went down hard. Maybe that is why I worked so hard with them because unlike E.T., I didn't want to phone home...

Chern: If there is any other helpful hints u know of, that would be great. Maybe you can make a sticky on this? I want to try this myself. I have air tools and many other tools. Can u possibly indicate what unusual tools are needed, like swivels etc? I dont have a lift but I have ramps, ugh.

Tek: Thanks for those diagrams!! ANy diagrams on the heat shields as they seem like a bzitch.

With the tightness of the space both front and back, our team was in total analytical mode and documenting. One of the many key frustrating headaches where heat shield removal and separating the OEM Pre-cat from the header in the front IOT drop it down, no matter what we did the front motor mount obstructed removal unless the parts (pre-cat/header) where separated, and of course they had nuts both on the top and bottom and regardless of the fact we successfully removed them ALL, we still needed to whack the pre-cat with a 40lb sledge because the two parts where like fused together. Luckily the rear can be dropped down as one piece but as luck would have it, the rear heat shield was by far the hardest to remove...

My car already sounds sick(in a good way) with just my AEM intake, straight pipe(replacing the resonator), and Magnaflow mufflers, I can only image what those headers will add.

Hey Chernmax,
Listen to this clip(especially towards the end when the engine comes alive) and let me know if it sounds like this. I would LOVE for those headers to make my car sound like this: http://www.alteredatmosphere.com/soundclips/bnt-016.avi

You are looking at about an 8 -10 hr job, at $60/hr. That's what most shops in LA charge. A DIY only if you really have some skills, extra hands, and proper tools.

I agree with RHMAX don't take it in a shop and pay a rediculous amount to get it done..... have a couple buddies help you out with this.... two sets of hands are better than one.... and two brains are better than one..... it shouldn't be all that hard just make sure you have enough time in the day to complete the task.....

Nah, not me, too shook to try this one. I would have to either take to Redline or bite the bullet and take it one of these local shops. I would just have to print this thread out and put it in the box.

Seeing how Chris pioneered this, I'm suprised he doesnt have the Technosquare ECU yet

I want to see his car rip down the track with the ECU and Headers and ther rest of the bolton gadgets.

When I dyno it, I will be using an APEXi Super AFC-II which should produce numbers similar to the reflashed ECU with the exception of the limiter...

Would it be possible to run APEXi AFC-II with a reflashed ECU from Technosqaure? FAAK thats a hard line to write.!!!

Wonder if there would be any benefits to fine tweaking the thing.
Also how come u didnt use header wrap to lower your underhood temps?

Thanks,

Kam

FWIW, the Altima from Nissanperformance mag gained 17 WH with these headers on a 3.5SE. I'd expect similar results.

That car also had a cat back, pulley and CAI.
