I recently purchased a fujita intake and summer is here in FL, I know the drainage around my area isn't all that good on the roads because it rains every day. Do you guys think I should put a bypass filter in the intake. J.I.C. I hit a big puddle. Anyone else concerned about this? I know It's a 3" pipe and the aem bypass filter would most likely work but I'm not sure and want some input

 

YES AEM bypass is PERFECT
i ordered a INJEN CAI with a AEM bypass with k&N cone filter.
i live in nyc and theres puddles so aem bypass is perfect.
its a failsafe device that all CAI should have

 

Does the bypass effect the flow? I was also wondering if by changing the filter I might be able to lower the sound of my fujita. It has gotten better than when I first put it on but up on top its still pretty loud. I want that throghty v8 kind of sound as apposed to the f1 race car sound lol


Oh and is there a particular vendor that offers a great deal on the bypass?

 

Well you can just look at that thread where somebody's ride hydrolocked after hitting a huge puddle... that should be enough motivation to make you wanna RUN to the store and get that thing and install it...

 

think of a vacum cleaner
and when you place your hand on the vacum it sucks your hand up right?
say your hand is water and you installed the bypass valve. it'll stop sucking air from the filter and begin to start sucking in air from the bypass valve.
theres a place in nyc that im getting my part. they are well known in nyc for their twinturbo z and entire carbon fiber s2000 w/ their widebody rx7 and supra with the 5inch lip rims

where will he put the bypass? the fujita intake is one piece, unless he got the 2 piece one..

 

Glad my nismo already comes with a bypass on it. I would def. buy one if it didn't though.... would hate to see my max go out because of a PUDDLE.

 

I have an AEM cai on my 05 and due to the fact that my wife drives it more than I do, installing a bypass is a must. I have stressed the fact that if she would not walk through the puddle she should not drive in it. I am not a big fan of having to cut my nice cai but it has to be done. For the first week it was on the car I could not stop thinking about hydrolock. I can get AEM parts from work I will check what it will cost me in the AM.

 

The expectation is cutting a section out. I read it somewhere else. But I will look to see we might be able to change it where the rubber boot connects to the throttle body

 

You get a small piece of paper with the bypass filter that you tape on the intake and take the old dremel out with cutting blades. Chew up your expensive intake, but nothing is more expensive than losing an engine! So I'm ording now but I looked at the pipe and I might have to cut through the fujita stamp... Wouldn't be hard I did it on my old jetta vr6 took almost and hour, but I'm not risking it, thanks for the input guys
