more to it...

you need the ballast also, the hid's don't turn on like a regular bulb.

i guess if u really wanted u could get some blue tint film on top of ur lights so the light emitted gives it that xenon look, not sure though, just an idea. theres a big thread already on it on the other forum.

Don't do that... it just reduces light output and causes glare for other people.

This has been discussed quite a bit in this forum... several people have gone from non-HID to HID, but as already mentioned they have had to replace their ballasts as well as just the bulbs.

I can't imagine going back to non-HID after owning a car with HIDs.

Good luck.

You are correct they are slightly different. The reflector as well as the cutoff bar (for lack of the correct term) are different between xenon and halogen. This has been discussed to death already in previous threads about HID upgrades.

i as well am looking to upgrade to HIDs. i just bought an 04 max and it doesnt have HIDs. i called NISSAN and they said i could buy the bulbs which were about 120 each. but then he said something about me needing a controller for each headlight which runs about 400 each. that doesnt sound right to me. do i need all of that just to get HIDs??? if anybody knows exactly what it takes to upgrade and about how much it will cost, please let me know...

read above...you will have to get an hid KIT if you dont have the system. Apparently you have to change the housing as well. Might as well buy a set of xenons headlights off ebay.

Yuppers, finally did that, it is a good way to go, you get the projectors and the rest of the assembly for you to mess around with
