Yet another addition to the max....
Yet another addition to the max....
ok so I was driving today and found out something really dangerous and interesting about my 04 maxima.... I have an automatic 5speed with slap shift and killed the car today rolling backwards down a hill. I don't know how everyone elses car works but I rolled back about two car lengths just messing with the car while in tiptronic 1st gear and it died.... I was thinking what the **** this isn't real till I did it again.... I had to find out if it was a safety feature of some sorts.... seems my car has this wierd *** feature.... can be quite embarrassing let me tell ya.... anyways was wondering if anyone else had this or understand why it does it....
cars have that feature built in it....if you leave it in regular D the car should just sit completly still ona hill with your foot off the brake, i know mine does....the only cars that ive ever actually seen roll back like that are cars that have AWD...and they will shut off if you let them roll to far.

This post makes me hurt. I could be wrong, but I agree- unless on an incline, shouldn't your car sit still, or at most move forward? Can someone explain to me how it would even be possible for it to move backwards 2 car lengths?
**Note to self- push brake in extra hard when driving home later...**

I wonder what his memos at work look like. It would be hilarious to get one of these from my boses.

Work? From his posts I think he's still stuck repeating remedial Grade 9 english class in his senior year of high school.

And that link to info on torque converters was way over my head. I like to think I learned something reading it, but there were way too many terms I didn't know for it to be of any use. sigh.. laypeople have such a hard time with these things
