After installing UDP

does anyone notice a sound change of the engine after installing UDP(unorthodox pulley)? ...it sounds like a G-35 exhaust or something similar, not loud but noticeble. Is this normal?

It's probably the G35 spoiler you have.

I do not see how a pulley would affect the sound of the exhaust:

So... how does the G35 sound different from the FWD VQ35...in the engine bay?

Check your work and see if everything is installed correctly.

i meant that the sound that is coming from my engine bay sounds like a G35 exhaust only at certain RPM levels (around 4k-5k).

everything is fine. belts arent loose or anything.

Belts could be too tight.

Apply 22 lbs in middle of belt (or pull using a fish scale). For alternator, deflection should be at most 0.16 inch for a new belt. For PS, max deflection is 0.28 inch. Its not much. Over tightening is hard on accessory bearings. Stay a tad on the loose side. If you turn on the A/C and the belt squeaks, then it too loose.

Check maintenance section, p:12 of service manual. Download a free copy from http://www.phatg20.net/modules.php?n...titleA&show=10

i used two fingures and pressed it down. it goes abt a half inch down with a little force( id say abt 25lbs to 30lbs of force). Is tht ok? Dues told me 1/2" should be fine but didnt tell me with how much force.

I tightened mine to the point just so belts dont squeal. Initially, there was a slight squeal, so I tightened it slightly until squeak went away. This makes sure they arent overtightened. The rule of thumb is 1/2" deflection when u press down the belt in middle of the accessories.
