Canadian Tire Air Filter??

I was at Canadian tire today and bought an air filter for $12. Is there any performance/quality concerns compared to stock?

I had a K&N in my MX6 before and it didn't really do anything performance wise, so I'm don't really want to bother with K&N.

you won't get any performance from it, unless you are going from a dirty @ss filter to a new one, then you will feel something, but if you keep them clean all the time you won't feel anything..

Oh I wasn't asking about performance improvements, I was more thinking of performance degradation and cleaning characteristics. Compare to stock, does the Canadian Tire air filter let in as much air and does it clean as well? It looks a bit more filmsy compared to the OEM filter.

THanks,

k&n lets in more air, thus more performance...you may not notice it trmendously, but itdeos. just look at the two of them..it is like breathing through a piece of paper or a t-shirt. The bigger the filter the better the diff however, and the maxima filters are pretty small.

Get a K&N. Your butt may not notice the difference but a dyno will show it. Gas mileage will improve. Oil based air filters are better than paper at holding dirt. K&N will be good for the life of your car.

But, if your are considering CTC air filter, then better change it more often. Air flow will be lower than OEM, thus lesser performance and lower gas mileage. You are not saving by being cheap. Dirty air will wear down the internal of an engine a bit faster.

You could go to a wal-mart if there is one near you and get one. A buddy of mine bought one and put his old filter in the box and returned it (of course that is illegal. I have always used k&n filters since it last forever with regular cleanigs and oil.
