Electric Motor Noise

My 2005 with 45,000 miles has developed an interesting noise. When I turn the car off I hear some kind of electric motor seconds after the motor shuts off. Sounds like it's retracting something. I thought this was the only time I heard it but the other day when I started the car I heard the same motor in the background. My mechanic doesn't know what it is. He tried to isolate the sound but was unable to. He thinks it might be coming from the transmission. "Better call Nissan" is what he told me. Anyone know what I'm dealing with? I'm leaving for Florida in less than a month.

My car does that same thing, always has. I believe it's the car playing with the throttle valve position. I'll check my service manual later and give you some solid tech.

Yeah, the front hydraulic fluid motor mount is realising pressure.

Do you guys know if I can make the dealer replace this for free? My car just hit 39k and is now out of warranty but this problem seems way too common.

How much does this repair cost anyway?

How urgent is it to get this fixed?

For those that aren't aware the electronic engine mounts make noise. It is normal, look in the FSM. When you start and shut off the car it does a self check and makes noise. Also under load/acceleration it makes noise, and when you let off it makes noise. Remember it's electronic and goes on and off, ie... it makes noise.

That sounds more logical Nietzsche, I have a brand new 07 and have noticed this electric motor sound since day one. I'll turn off sometimes and hear this faint sound for like one sec. Sometimes it's when I turn on, sometimes randomly while running. Sounds like a small little server motor moving is all. I didn't know we had electronic motor mounts? Interesting. Anyone have anything further on them. I never thought anything was wrong, but was curious as to what it was.

Were the hydraulic mounts only in the auto transmissions or in the manual's as well? My front mount is saggy.

Both have fluid filled mounts, however only the auto's are electronic.

I noticed my Injen rubber mount has been pulled forward about an inch. As the motor has sagged with the bad mount its pulled everything forward a bit.

Got quoted $396CDN for the front mount (just the insert). Thank god I bought an extended warranty. Thats a big chunk of change for the mount.
