My Max makes my back hurt :(

does anyone with a 6th gen max have back pains from the seats?
i have an 05 max, power leather seats, lumbar support -the whole nine, i drive about 30 min. each way to work and ive tried readjusting it a million times, but the top part of my back is killing me!

anyone else feel that their other/previous car seats are more comfortable? i miss my old galant cloth seats

I find the seats somewhat lacking too, but I spend 4-5 hours in the car every day. If the pain is in your upper back I'd think it's your position relative to the steering wheel that's causing the problem.

This has nothing to do with the seats but last year I had chronic problems with my upper back and shoulders. After few physio sessions and advice from the therapist on how to train my back at the gym, I haven't had a problem.

I didn't think physio would work, but I'm sold on it now. I'd suggest you look into it.

Wow, mine feel great, is there a possibility your seat is damaged. Read in another thread where a seat back broke and had to be replaced. Maybe even a TSB on it but I'm too lazy to search right now...

Help!!!

thanks for the advice man.

was jus havin a convo with my boss (hes has alot of experience with many different cars) and we both came to the conclusion that it has to be the steering wheel distance. although aside from the pain, when i first got into the max i didnt think it was too comfy. *hides

Maxima seats are not the best but then again if it's you upper back then probably its your position or sitting habits.

seen these cushion type things at costco that ran about 40 bux..... they had a display model and the thing felt great.... mounts to your chair and the colors they carried matched pretty well to the black and frost colored interiors

Your pain only occurs during driving? Comfy or not, I kind of doubt half an hour each way of driving would've caused so much "pain" even with improper posture. Could this be accumulated from sleeping habit, seating/posture at work, golf or other sports, etc?

No, these seats suck, its been documented in tests done by auto mags and by my personal experience over 3 yrs driving various distances. You don't know how uncomfortable I was when I first bought this car, my Taurus GL was way more comfortable...but I forgive the car because its hell on wheels compared to that old boat.

I'm doing many 6-hr-1way trips per year. I have abosolutely no issue with my '04SE. But my wife hates it with a passion. She said her back hurts pretty bad. I know she doesn't have a back problem at all otherwise. So I need to get a comfy car as soon as I can, for long trips. I will keep my Max no matter what she says. For now she can goes by with a HomeMedic cushion w/heat and massage + a couple of pillows.

Mine felt great, much better than my 02 Acura TL. But I thought it could be better with the lumbar more inflated. It felt good for a few days but then I started to get back/neck pain. I am now back to my origional setting of the lumbar totally deflated. No pain now.

The lumbar is just a sucky mechanism unfortunately. The most comfortable car Ive driven was an E420 with some orthepedic option and a dozen adjustments

i had the same problem when i bought my max. after adjusting the wheel and the tilt of the bottom seat, I was fine....

If the problem persist, go see a doctor, you may need a butt supporter...

Why don't you just wait for the 07 maxima to be in the junk yard . then you can get the seats out of them and install it on your 04 05 06 maxima. they will bolt up the same and the wiring should be the same too. I had a 07 maxima and i like the seat more than the car. Just wait and do the swap later.

Yep, I had a similiar experience. It took some positioning to get everything right so that my back didn't hurt at first. After a while though I got everything just right.

BTW, I'm 6'1".

i definitely sympathise with everyone who's having pain or uncomfort in their seats, i've had my car a little over a month, and i've just recently found a combination that doesn't hurt for long periods of time (i've put on about 2500 miles in a month)

It kinda feels like the seat slopes towards the center of the car...the side bolster on the back portion of the seat does almost nothing...
