Guess i'm wiring it into the power supply on the PC. Simple as soldering a molex connector to the +/- wires of the lilli and plugging her in. Getting the screen installed on Monday but the god damned computer didn't ship until yesterday Won't be here until Tuesday. Damnit.

Welp i just got what i didn't ask for. I asked the shop to mount the lilli and move the stock screen. They did this. Just not what i was looking for. I even gave them pictures of unmatched setup. They said the screen was too big to fit into the stock opening. So they basically mounted the screen in its full casing into the stock opening. Looks like dog ****. Doesn't look stock at all and will most likely get my car broken into to steal the thing. This sucks ***.

Soon as my wife gets back from her trip with the damned digi i'll post some pics. She'll be back tomorrow so I'll throw em up tomorrow night when i get home.

And the shop screwed me again. I tell them to put a PAC adapter in, they go ahead and install a damned FM modulator (At least its in in-line) but the jerkoff ran the 12volt from the battery along with the RCA's. Therefore i get incredible whine/feedback/etc anytime the harddrive does anything. I'll be calling them tomorrow am to raise some hell. I'll most likely order the PAC myself and make them reinstall and remove that POS fm modulator.

Other then that i installed Windows on the PC and got everything wired/mounted in the car. My god is it sweet. How have i gone so long without a carpc Everything i setup works to perfection (Nav, XM, etc). Wish Phoneco or another phone control software worked with my cell, that would rock.

Thanks for all your help/suggestions with this, i truly appreciate it.

Are you sure that's a real install shop? sounds like amatures did the job. Glad to hear that you have everything up and running.

WORD OF WARNING!!! Most wives / Girlfriends will never understand how cool it is to have a pc in the car so prepare yourself for some weird looks and constant bickering when your working on the pc (upgrades) instead of devoting every free minute you have on her (jk)

What skin are you using? How do you have your XM set up (pc line in ?)
Are you running Iguidance?

Sadly it is a real install shop. They've done some decent work for me in the past too.

Yeah i've already gotten the earful from the wife about all this. Bah, she'll never understand

I'm using Digital FX as the skin (the newest incarnation of Blue Devil). Its quite nice. XM is running through the line in and yes i'm using Iguidance 3.0 for nav.

Another quick question, i just thought of plugging in a set of headphones to the PC to make sure i'm not getting any whine or buzz from the soundcard on the PC. Did you have any issues with noise or anything? Once i have those dumbasses put in the real PAC adapter hopefully all my problems will go away and i'll have the cleanest sound i can.

I have absolutely no issue with sound quality. Hopefully the pac unit will correct yours.

I was getting whine noise before I upgraded the RCA wires going to the radio and now its crystal clear. I'm also running Digital FX (Copper) and it matches the amber dash pretty nice.

FX is nice, the only issue I'm running into is with the GPS Stats button, the speedo needle floats around

I have a whining problem too. Im using the PAC with the factory radio and an external USB sound card. It only whines when the engine is running. So you say replacing the RCA cables with higher end ones will fix the problem? What kind are you using? I was thinking about shielding everything from my carpc to the pac wiith aluminum foil or something. Whenever I finish my install and get the option to start topics I will post some pics.

Now keep in mind there may be other reasons why your getting noise. I ran my USB sound card under the driver seat and the pc is located under the passenger. I was told you should not run audio and power cables on the same side because you would get noise. Check your grounds and solder your wires instead of crimping them.

This is what I picked up at Best Buy and it solved the whine noise I was getting.

Mine i can already tell because the jerkoffs ran the power from the battery along with the RCA's TOGETHER(!!). Every 16 year old car audio wannabe knows thats its rule #1 that you don't do that. Hopefully when i show up tomorrow after work i don't burn the place down while i'm there. If i happen to not post for a while you know what happened

Just spent $50 on shielded usb and rca cables and there was no change. On to the aluminum foil. The whine exists even when the RCA plugs arent plugged into the PAC. I read somewhere that this symptom could be due to a bad PAC. It isnt that loud though...I can probably live with it. Anybody have the pin layout for the PAC. Il reground every ground wire if that will work.

Did you verify the whine isn't coming from the PC itself? I checked mine by plugging in a set of headphones into the output from the PC (which of course was clear as could be). I hope when i get my PAC put in it alleviates the problem.

Anyone using IGuidance? I have the GlobalSat BU-353 (http://www.amazon.com/GlobalSat-BU-3.../dp/B000MIVCX4) and Iguidance uses it just peachy, but it seems as if it lags behind a bit. Say i'm driving down the road and approaching an intersection its off by at least 75-100 feet. When i was using my PDA with a Bluetooth receiver it was spot on. Any ideas?

Wolf, I'm using the same set up (BU-353 with Iguidance 3.0) and get the same thing. Iguidance doesn't refresh as quick I guess but it doesn't really bother much

Really? It annoys the living crap out of me. I guess i'm used to the setup i had on my PDA which was very fluid and spot on regardless. Eh, the actual navigation works just dandy so i guess i'll live with it

Ok here's one for you guys. Just to test i took my Ipod out and used the 3.5mm stereo-mini to RCA adapter and plugged in the Ipod through the FM modulator that the shop put in. It was clear as day, no motor whine, no static, nothing. So i unplugged the Ipod and plugged it back into the audio out on the soundcard of the PC and i get static and can hear (throught he speakers) the hard drive head moving and motor whine and all kinds of bad things we don't want. So that leads me to believe once the PAC adapter is in i'm gonna have the same problem? But now that i'm typing this i remembered i plugged in a set of headphones to the PC and it was clear as day.. wtf. I'm confused now.

What is your pc setup like? Are you using a laptop or pc with an inverter? My guess is tha you are using a laptop or pc without a ground prong along with an inverter. If you are getting buzzing try to ground different spots. Start at your power source and work your way to your audio output. Whichever location has the best sound is where you should place a permanent ground. Typical places are grounding the inverter to the body of the car...the metal chasis of the pc/laptop...and finally the outside sheath of the rca cable. Not the inside, but the outside portion that goes around the little cylindrical portion. Just try it out and see if helps.

Nope. I'm using a Voom PC case, a VIA SP13000 Mini-ITX board and an M2-ATX power supply. I'm running 12-volt from the battery and grounding straight to the chassis in the trunk. Thats what boggling. I run my Lilliput off the power supply from the PC and thats clear as day. I figured if there were any noise coming through the PC i'd see some noise in the display. I just don't get it. Plug the ipod into the RCA's and its clear (engine on, engine off, etc). Plug headphones into PC and no noise, clear as day. Plug RCA's into PC via a 3.5mm mini to RCA adapter and noise out the butt. Another note, i know its not the little 3.5mm mini to RCA adapter as thats how i got the sound from the Ipod using that.

I'm getting pissed now

I've heard terrible things about onboard soundcards. I'm using an external and have no problems with noise. Give it a shot and if you still get the noise you can just return it (you can even try it out in the store parking lot).

Well i got my car back with the PAC installed. Much much much better now. Crystal clear audio now.

Now i gotta figure out why my XM sounds like ***. No static or anything, but sounds muddy almost. No definition in the highs and seems very bass heavy. It sounds this way straight out of the RCA's on the XM direct unit i have. I know in my last car i had a XM roady using the tape adapter and it sounded fantastic.

How do you have your XM connected? Are you using line in on the pc or are you using the mic in with the line patch?

I'm using Line In on the motherboard. Even when i plug in the rca's straight from the PAC to the xm unit it still sounds kinda crappy. I suppose the XM direct unit could be going bad?? I mean it works just fine no problems other then the sound quality.

You probably should have told them to remove it from its housing. Or just do what I did. I left mine in its housing...used double sided tape to temporarily stick it to the opening...finally cut anything out that impeded me putting my lilly in. I think I had to cut through a few pieces of metal and a couple pieces of plastic. Only do it if you plan on never mounting your stock screen up top.

Check and see how it sounds without the line from your pc plugged in. I get sound bleeding over to the 2nd channel using the pac.

Found the problem. The RCA -> Stereo-mini cord i was using was the issue. The RCA side of the cord kinda had stubby RCA connectors on it. The male portion (best way i can think of describing) apparently wasn't sitting far enough inside the female end of the XM (Good god this is going down the gutter quite quickly isn't it). I bought a new set from the 'Shack and all is well now.

I really gotta get some pictures up here. Maybe this summer i'll hire Unmatched to install my Lilli properly

Question to everybody, I want to install the pioneer avic-z1 headunit into my car to where the cd player is now, what I want to do is basically since where the info/navigation screen (factory) currently is, is perfectly placed for navigation usage I want to use the factory navigation screen and leave it where it is. However the question I have is, is there a way to wire the factory navigation screen to the pioneer z1's video out port so that all the info from the head unit displays on the factory navigation screen? I know that I could just put a regular 7 inch LCD screen up where the factory LCD screen goes but I would rather not put the factory screen down below where the storage compartment is in front of the shifter I would rather be able to display DVD video, navigation info, and everything else from the headunit on the factory screen and still have the factory screen display the factory climate control information. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks
