I never understood how ram-air systems work with water splashing at your car. =/

don't really understand what you mean by that smoke, but if you splash water on your cooling components, more heat will dissipate with water rather than just air alone;
i think the EVO sprays water on it's radiator or intercooler; forget which one; but it cools a lot better than just running it dry
