fluid flowing when starting and accelerating

Hello all,

I bought my 04 maxima last month and absolutely love it. About a week ago I started hearing what seemed to be water flowing when I accelerate. I couldn't tell if it's coming from the roof, door, or from the engine. Yesterday I noticed that the same sound occurs when I start the car. This leads me to think the problem is in the engine. Has anyone ever had this kind of problem, or can speak to it?

Thank you

check your coolant level might be too low... dealer will tell u they have to flush the system... air may be in the system... easy fix.

It's been a well know issue. Listed in with the other TSB's I believe. There is a pretty detailed method of elevating the car to fill the coolant and purge the trapped air out of the system. The air in the heater core is causing the gurggling sounds you hear. It shouldn't cause any troubles, but it is annoying.

It does cause troubles, the heater/defroster go cold at idle. (Starbucks drive through, long traffic lights etc.) You can let the damned thing idle in the driveway for two hours and the windshield will still be frozen and the interior cold. Plus it sounds funky.

thanks everyone. Will this solution fix the problem permanently? Or will this process have to be repeated for the life of the car?

I have noticed the same thing too but i don't have the annoying gurgling sound. If I let the car warm up at idle to defrost the windows it doesn't blow warm air on the window but as soon as I start driving it kicks in....

Just had the same problem fixed myself, was air in the coolant lines. Had em flushed, bled and refilled and now i get hot air moving or stuck in traffic.
