Black rims with red lip on Onyx 6th Gen Maxima

Ok guys, you must have figured I wouldnt sit too long without trying to dream up of more ideas for the Maxima. I have been toying with the idea of getting new rims, not that I don't love my bronzies, cuz I do. They sure look sharp especially when they are all shiney and polished.

The black rim with polished lip is common, and almost out of style. Sooooooo. . . . . .I was thinking about black rims with a red lip. I have done mucho research and there are a number of choices out there; Volk Time Attack, Sportmax 006, Rota, Axis TC, Sportmax 961(with polished lip AND red lip with black rim) etc. I believe these rims would only work on black, red, smoke, and white Maximas (and possibly silver).

Here is the Sportmax 006 with paintable red ring:

Here is a black M3 with black rims and red lip:

Here is a black M6 with red brakes, black rims with red lip (a bit oversized):

Here is a link to the Sportmax 961 with polished lip and red anodized ring with a black rim: http://www.bigwheels.net/?location=w...le=Maxima%20SE

Here is a link to the Axis TC which is a graphite rim with removable paintable ring: http://www.axiswheels.com/wheels/tcevo/tcevo.html

Here is a link to AC Schnitzer rims: http://www.cecwheels.com/images/medi...ing_red640.jpg

If anyone can PHOTOCHOP any of the rims on to my car, I'd really really appreciate it:

Opinions anyone???

Looks great... Do it Dues. That M6 is beautiful. I think it would look better if you had stock tails to match though.

Deus,

I love your ride, don't mess with it. If you need something new, I'll take your baby off your hands!

Seriously, I like your rims much better.

It looks cool...but dont knock the black rims with polished lip thats still sitting in my basement and going to be mounted (finally) this month! I still think the chrome ties in with the rest of the car better...but that M3 looks nice.

It's bold. When will we see them? Too much red in the first pic.

I was thinking the same thing as KCmaxx. Would look much better with stock tails, but looks great nonetheless.

To me it looks like the wheel in the first pic has the entire lip red, while the pics of the wheels on cars just have the outer edge red. Is that just me? I like just the outer edge red, as opposed to the entire lip.

the pic of the wheel has the red lip you're right. The cars have just the outer edge. I agree, it looks nicer with just the edge red.

If I do go this route, I'm wondering if I can make something red to bring out the red a bit. My front brakes are red, like in the photoshop picture. I know that the new VW Golf has red trim around the grill:

As stated, red on the Rim not Lip is realllly nice!

And as stated, def would look better with reg tails.

LOVE the grill rim red idea..... maybe even some vinyls on the car?

Very nice. Like that spoke design in the chop more then the solo rim above.

Deus, I think it would look pretty sick. Definitely straying away from the Knight Rider days!!!
I'd say lose the tint on the tails to balance it out.

I don't like the red lip per say but a black rim with just a RED line would look sick. I think I have seen rims by Rays that would fit exactly.

This is what I mean

M6

Bout blewsey my wodzy on that M6. For the red on the lip to work, I think there needs to be more of a red accent on the rest of your car or it would just be a red and black rim (not that I dont like my Georgia Dawgs). If you have red somewhere like a badge on your car, it will look tight.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone, and for the photoshops. I think a Nismo badge with the red "O", maybe a red grill trim like on the VW GTi, and possible red mirrors maybe like on the new Mini GP:

. . .or on this VW:

Can anyone photoshop those red rims at the top of the post, with red mirrors and a fine red line around my grill on my car?????? Use this pic:

I'm not a big fan of the red lip, but I do like those Axis & Sportmax 961 wheels. I'm definitely interested to see what you come up with.

Im leaning towards the Sportmax 006. They are priced nice at $159 per rim and I can get them locally. If I decide against them once I bought them, I can always give them to my son who owns a bright red 03 Hyundai Tiburon. I'm still undecided, and awaiting more opinions.

The black and red rims make me think of the 1960's Bat Mobile. I am still debating whether thats good or bad. I am on the fence on this one.

Here's a quick photoshop (picture could have been bigger, oh well), nothing spectacular but gets the point across. Love the look, still would look better with stock red or lighter tinted tails.

I like the red lip, the red wheel caps and the red around the grill. I am not feeling the red mirrors even though they look good on the Mini Cooper JCW GP. Thanks for the photoshop, Joe.

not a fan....i think you could get away with that look on a sportscar (lotus, maybe even s2000...) but it looks kid-ricer on our cars i think. Just my opinion though.

get some pretty 2pc rotors first
