Nismo Intake 25 WHP!??!

Nismo Intake 25 WHP!??!
Ha! I was at my dealership today, getting a headlight bulb replaced, and I noticed they sold Nismo products. I asked what they had for the Max. This guy pulls out a binder with Nismo stickers on it, he says it's a parts list with HP gains. For 2005 Max, Nismo intake stated 25 WHP gains. Also 1-2 MPG increase. I was like, "my ***." He said that it was 380 CAD. Not installed. No way can that be true... Can it? Our intakes aren't THAT restrictive are they? Please let me know. I told this guy he was on crack, and left.

That seems awfully optimistic. I know with the Fujita intake, TeK had it dynoed and posted video of it. He had a gain of 15whp IIRC. That's the largest I've seen.
All that to say, I haven't seen any other video or dyno of just an Intake.

Nissanperformancemag.com Altima SER project: " How does 12.9 hp and 13.52 lb ft of torque at the wheels sound? Yeah, hard to believe but those are just the peak numbers. At 4800 RPM's the NISMO intake made 25.6 hp over stock and an astounding 28.11 lb ft more of torque. "
That is why I got the NISMO CAI.

I'm running it too and am VERY happy. It's a QUALITY part and I got mine CHEAP from www.vandenissanpats.com, With the CE Y-Pipe and the Cattman exhaust I put on just today, my Maxima sounds SWEET. I've seen some dyno numbers on the NISMO CAI. Vaden posts them, but they're redoing the web site currently. Call them at 1-800-944-8380 if you want a great deal on a Nismo Cold Air Intake.

Glad you are happy with your intakes. They do growl nicely.

For me to pay around $250 installed for my NISMO CAI, I not only got a nice performance upgrade, but the piece of mind my dealer wont give me any crap if I take the car in for repairs. I also have the NISMO sways installed.
I am also a NISMO guy through and through. Had an Altima SE with the exhaust, sways, and CAI. Had an automatic in that car, but it was QUICK and handled like the tires were made of fly paper. The drone from the exhaust is the reason she is gone.....

I have dealt with RideTuner, and if you check out his seller/buyer feedback, it is excellent. My dealings with him were superb to say the least.
Dealerships......What can be said there? To each his own. My dealership only sold Nismo Intakes at an outrageous, and hideous price. The only one they could get their hands on was the "R" rated on, and because it was "R" rated, they couldn't warranty it. Even if they did the install. Now I'm sure if I fussed enough I might get them to cover it, but why bother. What warranty issue could arise that wouldn't be covered with an Intake, regardless of maker?
If you bought Nismo because you are a Nismo Junkie, understood. Stand on that alone, but to insinuate that you'd receive less by buying something else is ludacris. Especially if you haven't dealt with those selling the other brands.
For the record, I didn't buy my Fujita from an EBAY dealer, although I'm sure he has sold there, and I still only spent literally only a few bucks less than you (you said $250, right?) . My husband and I did our own install (So easy a caveman could do it) and it was a great experience for my husband and I on Christmas morning. I not only got the intake I wanted for my car, but got to hang with my man and we put it on together!!!! I was a happy wife, that made him an even happier man!
To each his own! Just as you are a Nismo man, I am a Fujita Girl!

I have nothing against NISMO or any any other CAI. I think they all provide about ~10HP gain (uber RPM) but the single piece, wrinkled black design is simply SEXY.
More than one bra will fit your girlfriends t-i-t-s but Victorias secret is that much sexier. if you know what I mean.

Probably not. I'm pretty sure all the intakes are about the same give or take 1-2whp. I am also guessing that each 6th gen differs by about at least the same amount right off the show room floor.
What is the whp and tq for a stock Maxima? I didn't get my dynoed before I put on the Nismo CAI
Had the car dynoed with only the Nismo CAI installed
06 Maxima w/Nismo CAI
whp = 209
max tq = 238 but that seemed high, looks more like 223-224 max on the runfiles

Notice in the first of the three pics I posted that the Nismo intake has the "flying saucer" filter. It's optional to help protect against water intake.
As far as the best.....I went with Nismo because it's Nismo and I got it used for like $100. I also like the Fujita though, it's a good intake.

No money: K&N in an OEM box (and remove the bottom resonator chamber).
CAI - pick a CAI with the best, least restrictive air filter (bigger is better).
The longer one will get more fresh, cooler air. It will keep the power level more constant. But, if you are afraid of your intake pipe turning into a sump pump, get the short pipe.
Its really about how much air you can get into your engine. Cold air is denser. A smooth constant diameter intake pipe will reduce the 'friction', the resistance to get the air in.
