Cold Air Induction Box & Mods

Anyone!

Looked around on the forum and didn't find information on this.

I have a Berk Technology cold air induction installed on my 04' Maxima SE. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a website where I can (if even needed) get a box for the induction system. I've seen other box's of aluminum or carbon for other vehicles, but not Nissan Maxima.

Second, does anyone know where to get the replacement filter for the best price! The lowest I'm seeing is 69 bucks + shipping.

Third, I lost my internet links to Nissan MODS. I'm looking to get a better battery holder and battery leads that go onto the posts; the spoiler for the Maxima that comes pre-painted; and the best way to hook up my MP3 player. I know they mention in the how to's a PAI type device, but is there any other way? Thanks all!!!!

Hey Ramberg...doing great...still getting used to the real life back here at home. Life in Tikrit, Iraq was nothing to write home about, not to mention the building that my Soldiers and I stayed in for a year...no running water...no HVAC (only window units that failed all the time), no real electricity (used a generator which again, failed a lot). The accomodations met the requirements of a condemded building here in the U.S.

Anyhow...trying to catch up on the forum. Still looking for a box or a heat shield that I can put between my berk tech cold induction. I had one on my cold induction on my Passat, my last care (RIP).

Talk to you later Ramberg!!

My sentiments exactly. Thank you immensely. Our country is indebted to you.

Regarding spoilers, I'd check spoilerdepot.com (Ritz got his from them).

For your filter, I know RideTuner sells replacement ones for the Fujita system, if they are the same size, he might have better numbers for you for a new filter.

I'm fresh out of info for you.
Again, THANK YOU.

I have not seen any boxes for cold air or ram air induction, but i have recently been giving it some thought. One of the first ideas is to relocate the battery to the trunk in order to free up space. Then, if there is a way to fashion a sealed box that connects to the OEM funnel in front of the radiator. Thats the key. Any thoughts?

By the way, my son who is stationed at Ft Bragg, didn't pass Special Selection and may be deployed within a few months to Iraq. Hopefully he comes back like you did.

Thanks all for the kind comments...

It's nice to be home and to finally get somewhat settled. It was tough deployment...being a field grade Commander and always worried about my Soldiers on missions, it was not easy at times, not to mention that my Wife had our second daughter 3 months into my deployment and had to go through that experience without me. Very tough on the Soldiers over there being away from family and friends, especially when they are not in such good locations. I assumed an old Iraqi building...no running water (only had bottled water and a shower trailer with a water tank), no real electricity (ran off a generator that failed all the time), and tons of sand storms...almost daily during the hot season.

Anyhow...I wish the best for your Son DeusExMaxima and he stays safe. I assume he was going for SF since you mentioned the selection course. If anything, tell him not to go for those special, dangerous missions...as I can speak from experience. As part of my philosophy for me being a Commander was that I would not have my Soldiers do any mission that I wouldn't do first, hence I did several of them first.

Well...back to the topic. A box would be great. Don't have any real ideas on it though. I was thinking in the meantime a heat shield to separate the cold air induction from the rest of the engine that would have a rubber lip on top where the hood would come down on it. I had this heat shield seperater on my cold air induction on my VW Passat, but have not seen one for the Nissan...possibly because the area is so tight to begin with...maybe I can custom develop one.

Thanks for the comments folks...DeusExMaxima, your Son has our thoughts and prayers...especially from a fellow Soldier like me!

Thanks Major for the wishes and prayers.

I thought about a heat shield with a rubber lip. I think a cold air box is doable and can provide ram air since the scoop is already there. An idea is to get a race battery that is small, to make room and save weight. Then there is room for a sealed box with air filter. If anyone can google some ideas on other cars, maybe I or someone can make something easy so everyone can do it. DeusMaxima...this is an idea to ponder. I'll have to check if there is shop equipment I can use at Fort Carson. I wouldn't mind trying to build a box from the air scoop to go around the filter. The only problem, it would be specific to Berk cold air intake that I have with a cone filter. Even a heat shield I would think would make a difference. We can always check with wireless temperature sensors to see. Hmmm...I'll have to think about this more after seeing the sites you listed.

Thanks DeusMaxima...and again, your Son is one of my many Army brothers...I wish him well and safe!

Here is a pic of my engine compartment, and I outlined the area in red that I think should be for a box:

The cold air shield is dialed in pretty nicely. I can take it apart and put it together pretty quickly. I had to do it when I replaced my HID again, and I did it in the field at the night autocross. Im surprised more people arent interested in this.

Can't tell from the picture if your filter has the inverted filter in the head. That might help with the "ram air" effect of the scoop and shield.

I'd say black just so everything behind the grill is blacked out and looks clean. I'm not sure if that styrofoam is something you'd want to highlight by painting red.
