Upgraded to HIDs *pics*

The install wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The hardest part for me, was removing the bumper. But after some tips from the forums, I got it off.

Stock 9012 HIR2

4300K HID

Dropped the bumper so I can get the headlight assembly out. Each assembly is held on by two bolts on the top, one on the side, and two on the bottom of the housing. Hence the reason to drop the bumper so that these bolts can be accessed.

Coverage on the road (with fogs on). Looks much better in person when compared to the pic.

The cutoff pattern. It's not much different (if any) then 6th gens with factory HIDs. But I must lower the passenger side down a bit...seems a bit high.

The kit I got is the 9006 model. The tabs on the 9006 didn't fit all the way in, so one of the tabs on the bulbs needed to be trimmed down. After a little trim, it twisted and locked in just like the stock ones did. Other than that...the kit installs just plug and play. Then a 1" hole is drilled on each endcap to allow the wires to pass through, and finally connected to the ballast.

yeah, the bumper was fairly easy to put back on heh. it was sorta hard because it wasn't able to reach a few bolts. but i got the hang of it now.

yeah, i still have high beams. the stock 9012 bulbs are single filament. there is a shield that moves out of the way inside the projectors to allow high beam operation. under regular low beam mode, the shield is in place to block off some portion of the light so you'll get a cutoff line and not blind everyone.

Looks good, I did it exactly the same way. Anyone know if our fogs are regular H3 or do I need to go with mini's if I go HID fogs?

9006 here also. I think 9005 is very similar and either will work.

It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, just took a long time because it always does the first time around, and I was being careful to not break any of the tabs and trying to remember where they need to go when I put it back together. Well worth the effort.

Cant help but notice your light pattern on the wall is the same as mine. I have a 06' SE with stock HIDs, the pattern drive me nuts! Why does Nissan have such a bad design with the headlights? I like the color but the light orientation from the low left side, to the high right side they emit at night is annoying. I tried to have the dealer align them twice, but after comparing them to regular halogen bulbs on another Maxima, they have the same crazy alignment. Does this bother anyone else? Dealer said it was a poor design of Nissan.

i don't think it's nissan's fault. my friend said the cutoff pattern is typical of e55 projectors. i asked my seller about the cutoff and he said the elevated right side helps light up road signs and such so it'll be easier to see. i lowered it a tad though...and so far it doesn't seem to be blinding anyone. i had a friend drive in front of me, and coming towards me...and he said there's not much glare (if any).

Yep, the passenger side is supposed to be a bit higher to light up the roadside, signs and peeps or bicycles there. The driver's side is lower as not to blind oncoming cars. Its been always like that whether with conventional lights or HID...when properly aligned of course.

Hey, I just got finished putting mine in, they looks awesome. One last problem, I got some moisture in the left light. What did you guys used to seal the lights after you were done?

Man nice work! I'd be so afraid of trying that myself. I could probably get it stuff off, but no way I'd get it back on.

Tonight when I turned them on, only one came on. I switched them both off and back on then they both lit up. Does this sound like the moisture is messing with it or just a loose connection somewhere??
