Exhaust Tip removal help for 6th Gen.

Hey guys,

I've searched this, but couldn't find it on the forums for the 6th generation, so here it comes.

I have a little bit of a dilemma. My exhaust tips are rusted out and falling apart. I'd love to change the entire mufflers, but my budget doesn't allow me to. So the next best thing is to just replace the tips. I saw some on eBay which looked really nice...and shiny.

How do you remove these things? I was looking at them and didn't see any screws in them.

Is it some kind of weird system holding them in there? How difficult is it to remove these? I don't want to pay anybody to replace these, hopefully is not that complicated.

Also, am I the only one thinking of this?

Thanks to all!!!

Here's a link to the one's in eBay. Would these fit correctly? I know, lots of questions, just want to make sure I do everything correctly.

if you were to pay someone to do this for you and you later found out how it was done, I think you would yourself! lol

You just need to put some elbow grease behind it and just wiggle each chrome tip out of there...easy as that

Oh man, are you serious? Is that all it takes?

Did you do it before? What do you think of the ones I saw on ebay, will those fit in the 6th gen?

not sure about the fitment, but I just can't stand the fact that the tip doesn't cover up the muffler...just looks bad imo

4MySwee, do you still have the stock ones?

Mine are rusted at the bottom, especially the left ones; almost beyond belief. They look really nasty, I'll convince my wife to change these...no matter what

I do, I'll run out to the garage real quick and take a peek, BRB........Checked oil while I was there. All looks awesome. No rust. But I live in Sc where there is rarely snow, so salt isn't necessary. When the weather is nasty, she stays put.

Yeah, I got my Max used and Carfax mentioned it came from NJ state...too bad for rusting, but anyway, that's my next project, to get exhaust tips.

If it was up to me, I'd get the Remus that Chernmax got, those are beautiful...but my wife already shut me down

OK, guys, I'm trying to do this the most inexpensive way possible. I found these on eBay, please let me know if these will work on stock exhaust for the SE AND if they'll stick out way too much (8 inches long).

Thanks for your input, TRULY appreciate it
