Coolent System Flush Needed... $$$ = stealership

It time for my coolent flush. Ive noticed that my air isnt as cool and takes long to cool off in the car.

I have yet to do a coolent change in the car. So it may be time.

The local stealership is charging 79.95 for this service. Should I go to a local auto-repair and get it down cheaper????

I dont want them f&^%ing up my max....

you mean you need to have your AC system checked for leaks and recharged?

The term "coolant" normally refers to the contents of the engine cooling system, and includes anti-freeze and/or water. Changing that will have no discernable effect upon your air-conditioning system. I assume you mean, as suggested by the previous poster, changing the the refrigerant in your air-conditioner. If your car is still under warranty, and there is a leak somewhere, the dealer should fix it for free. If it's not under warranty, I still would want the dealer to leak test and recharge the system, because they've had a lot more experience with your car than the local shops have. It sounds as though your system is leaking refrgerant...

you wont see the refrigerant for the ac leaking because it is gas like and disipates, (Someone more knowledgeable, correct me if I am wrong).

You could see radiator fluid leaking. That's the greenish color.

usually you dont have your AC system flushed. maybe they might evacuate it then recharge it.

and yes swee, you wont see it leaking unless it has been treated with dye, in which case it will stain the area around where it is leaking.

Ok, thank you.

Which is it 2Leet? Are you having AC issues? Or is the car in general, running warmer as indicated by the temp gauge? Your symptoms will indicate which item needs attention.

Check the AC hose, Rick. I had mine replaced because it was leaking.

yep. it had something to do with an AC hose and leakage. It blows nice a cold now, versus a cool wind. Also it seems after fixing the hose. im getting better gas mileage. I will confirm in a week.

Yeah check the hose. If your AC isnt rocking like it use to then your freon is low. Freon is what makes the AC cold.

I always say go to the dealer. That way you dont have to put up with the whole "Thats gonna charge you extra" mechanics. You Max is worth the extra 20 bucks.
