My clutch tends to squeak a lot, sometimes when engaging, sometimes when disengaging. Is there any simple or quick fix to this? As far as Im aware, I have to replace it. Otherwise it works fine, just an annoyance.

Mines always made a squeaking when I engage or dissengage it, never really had a problem so Il probably just replace when it goes out.

Is it the clutch pedal or coming from under the hood? If its under the hood, theres a rubber piece thats attatched to the tranny on the top front side. pull the rubber piece out and put some grease in there using your finger. Try to use a grease with no detergents and oil based. It will keep it from squeeking again for a long time. If its the pedal itself then you can use the same type of grease or even a silicone based grease in spray or tub form and just rub every joint and moving part down and it should go away. Its worked for me in the past. Good luck.

use white lithium grease, works perfectly! i use that for when i do clutch jobs.

yea i had this same problem, if you use the grease it would get rid of that annoying sweaky noise.

AHH!!!! IT WORKED! lol thanks again guys..that was a HUGE annoyance to me..especially when I have people in the car. stupid dealership told me i needed a new clutch.. i put grease under the dashboard on the moving parts of the clutch..squeak went right away.

I tried to tackle this problem yesterday. Tracked the noise down to that exactly location on the front/top of the gearbox, but couldn't pin the noise down any more precisely than that. Is it:

-inside the hydraulic piston?
-at the ball/socket joint between the end of the pushrod and the clutch fork (just outside that rubber boot)?
-down inside the clutch housing?

I tried hosing down the first two items with Tri-Flow (maybe not the best long-term lube, but it makes troubleshooting easy), but the noise is still there.

I pulled the rubber boot out of place to peer inside the clutch housing, but I'm reluctant to just spray lubricant randomly inside there.

Ideas?

Will this work for the 5.5 gen 6-speeds too? Mine is squeaking as well.

I need to get some lithium grease and try this, mine also does a lil click though so I need to get down there and check that out. Maybe when its not 100+ outside.

yes the 5.5 and 6gen trannys are the same (as far as im aware) so it willl work in both cars.

any diagrams to figure out what area to grease if noise is coming from under the hood? i've already greased underneath my dash but like others, noise can be heard outside and is quite embarrasing...

I have the noise outside also..not terrible tho not very loud. i havent figured out a fix yet..

Yea just pull out the rubber piece and put lube down in there. I wouldn't use a spray lubricant because its very thin and will wear off quicker. Use a thick grease for that area and make sure it has no detergents so it will last longer. Forget the type I used exactly but go to the autoparts store and ask them, they will probably know. I'm sure bearing grease would do the trick. Dont be scurred its just the fork down in there and the slave cylinder. It wont hurt anything.
