i went through the same thing. on your unit there should be an option somewhere along the lines of Rear Cam Interruption on/off, that's for it to react to the camera powering on when you go into reverse. now for how to do it, this is how i did it.

when you go on reverse, your reverse lights go on, so i figured i'd tap into that. remove the rear carpeting on the driver side of the trunk until you see the cable harness that goes into the taillight. then having all the lights off, put the car on reverse (e. brake on please!) so that only your reverse light is on. Use a continuity tester to find the cable that has the power, which i i think is a white and green cable. once you find it, splice the camera's cable into it, tape it up and that's it. it works great for me at least

The AVIC's have an option on the NAV to view the Camera while driving forward, my N2 split the screen with the NAV map, my D3 just shows full screen of the camera....

Thanks guy.. I installed it today... I tapped into constant Power and grounded it... My navi "N3" Automatically goes into camera mode when i turn on my car.. other than that it can share a screen with the Navi Map.... So it will be on constantly until I turn off my car... its not bad... Thanks for that Write up Trojan Nemo it helped me in my installation...
