Aftermarket Navi

I know that many people have their preference on which aftermarket in-dash navi system they recommend. However, I'm changing the middle console, and would like to install an in dash navi in the center. Any suggestions and opinions with theirs?

i have the Kenwood DDX6019 dvd player with the Kenwood KNAG510(i think?) gps navigation unit right in the middle of the dash where the cd changer used to be, with an extra in-dash tv on the top screen, works great for me. i know more than one guy in here has the same tv and there's also some guys with one that replaced mine, the DDX7100. if you want an idea of what it looks like, check out my cardomain on my sig. good luck

Your best bet right now is the Pioneer AVIC-D3, the price is right and the features are awesome!

Carpc has everything you need and more + it's fully custom. You can change everything from the specs to the visual design and its much cheaper

the kenwood headunit with the separate navi module isn't that far off of the pioneer price

you're right. but i got mine at separate times so it was different. not to mention my navigation is not dvd based, is HDD based with real-time GPS (not sure about the pioneer). so i can have my navigation and have my music videos playing off the dvd at the same time...

thinking about it now, though, i'd probably go with a different unit

I have the kenwood dnx 7100; the Navi software is loaded on an internal hd and I have an independent dvd drive. The unit is similar to the one TrojanNemo has, but is one complete piece.

No offence...

Sorry to offend all of the 04, 05, 06 crew, but the 07 center layout blows the rest away. Can't wait to see where the mods go.........

I can't find a kit for the 04-06 Maximas to make a double din receiver fit in the center console. Like Jsmith's one. How did you do that? The part number in your cardomain looks like it's for single din? I'm confused =\. Also, on the navigation screen topic, is it possible to have a rear view camera hooked up to the top factory screen on a non-navi system?

You will need to buy the metra dash kit and cut off the pocket. that's what jsmith did. if you look carefully you see the cut mark on each side in the center. tip, when cutting off the pocket , leave about a 1/2 inch on top and the sides.
good luck

PS don't buy the one sold in cardomain, that's a differnt company. you need metra. go on ebay.

+1 to what scrui said on the kit.

As for the top screen with non nav you can't run any video to it, it's a set display not an actual screen.
