resetting the ecu
so I was catching up on some reading and found a sticky for resetting the ecu. I found that alot of guys were unsure of what to do and toward the end most got the picture. For those who haven't read the thread I will quickly recap before I explain what I have done to make this easier. Ok first if you put mods on your car, the ecu will not recognize those mods right away and will "allow" aftermarket parts to do what they are designed to do, "Give more HP and TQ". As time passes the ECU will start to "retard" or "learn", depending on mod, resulting in no performance gains from mods. In order to see the gains you need to reset your ECU over again. About 2 times a month for me based on driving habits and amount of time driving. maybe more depending on how much you drive. Well to achieve this I installed a quick disconnect that I had bought from AutoPort for a couple dollars. Cheap and very easy. After install no tools are needed for reset. Here is the exact part I bought sold on ebay for 6 dollars http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BATTE...42868181QQrdZ1 . You can buy automatic switches and different types. To install this took about 5 minutes. This is the most crucial part of modding the MAX. For those who don't want to take 40 seconds out of your time 2 time a month then buy a chip from Jimwolf for about $450. I have kept from buying a chip myself because I am not done modding and find it pointless to mod the chip and have to keep reprogramming for different mods. keep in mind all statements made in this were opinion based and in no way are bashing to anyone with a chip or other alternative to obtaining same results. Hope this was helpful.
