Can Avic-D3 replace that non-nav screen
#11
Can it "replace" it no, it needs to stay in to function.
And search is your friend, been discussed many times over the years...

There is no way (barring with massive $) to remove all of the stock radio buttons? Kind of looks ridiculous having audio controls for absolutely nothing, yet I have not seen anyone with them removed. You would think the company that makes the plastic replacement cover (metra?) would have that covered up, and you could just take out the radio completely.

Spend the cash
Anyone who knows anything about car audio knows that everything revolves around the head unit, your spkrs only sound as good as the source they get it from. However, i know you all are going to say "BUT I HAVE BOSE!" and the car audio aint that great. Replacing the stereo in these is a little bit of a pain, however can be done, little meshing into the back side to make it fit, specialty kits from Metra are the way to go, however the Harness and interface modules are going to be the most expensive. Try upwards of $200-$275, alone. But is it worth it, every last penny if you want it to sound good(and not only look sweet), these stereo's are alot like doing a lexus SC300/400. But not quite as bad. Best of luck on it though.

What are the best options for a signal to an amp without hacking the dash for an aftermarket head unit? I wish it was easier and I am quite pleased with the stock sound, but its hard to replace displacement. Subwoofer air displacement that is. Is the only way line level inputs/converter from speaker wires? Eek, distortion city. Not as bad for low frequencies but still. Thanks for any tips.
