Y pipe shipped and almost here...
Mine arrives tomorow, can't wait. Have a lot of installs planned for Friday.
Y-Pipe, Front and Rear BBK, Phenolic Spacers and last but not least my UDP. I plan on feeling quite a change in power when all is complete.

Ok I didn't see the others. Very cool. Yeah man the Cattman pipe looks WAY more streamlined than that stock piece of crap. You can't HELP but to realize some gains from this! Mine should be here this week man I can't wait!! I just emailed Brian to see if he's got tracking info for me. I hope I'll be able to do it this weekend as a project.
sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine yaup, it should be here today, and if I get the urge to install it, then I may post results tonight

Track would be fun...and wow, you're putting those times down with the ****ty stock tires?!
Put some grabby ****'s on there and it'll be even quicker.
Update for me. I got the Y-Pipe off...now the O2 sensor will not budge. I'm going to run it over to midas and have them bust it off for me. I'm uploading a comparison of the stock and cattman Y-Pipes side by side for everyone right now...

good luck and let us know how it goes... and price for installll
So far I'm just out the $10 it cost to bust the 2 bolts off back by the catalytic converter. The guy said maybe another $5 or so to remove that O2 sensor. This car was originally from Chicago and now in Ohio. I know from living in Chicago the salt and snow is terrible. All my stuff is so rusted its insane. Waiting for my wife to get home now so I can drive the Y-Pipe the 2 blocks to Midas. I'm too tired and would feel like a nerd carrying a Y-Pipe to blocks down the street
Hmmm... seems like Illinois does the OBD test as well for 1996 and newer vehicles... guess I could get the y-pipe without the cat then?

Ok. So Midas couldn't get that O2 sensor off either. Said it had to be torched out, which would ruin it. I thought I saw a thread somewhere with a cheap price on O2 sensors? Anyone hook me up with one? Until then I'm going to put a plug on the O2 hole and roll without the sensor. I assume a Check Engine Light will result as well...
Hey Chern, did you eliminate that big goofy looking thing midstream down the exhaust piping? The resonator is it? What were the effects? Louder, more HP, anything? I Noticed the sucker the other day when they had me on the lift putting the Magnaflows on.
Hye guys I emailed Brian about the hissing/whistling sound and here's his reply.
Glad to hear that you’re pleased with the performance, but also concerned about the sound. I haven’t heard it do this, but all of our hands-on testing here in Tucson was done with the prototype. The proto was identical to the production version in almost all respects, BUT, I increased the flex section length from 4” to 6” to make it more flexible – the 4” was too stiff. Assuming that this sound is attributable to the flex sections, apparently when we doubled the length of the flex (the flex dimension includes two 1” end caps, so a 4” flex section has 2” of flexible area, a 6” has 4”, etc.) the result was a sound we didn’t hear before.
How loud is it? Can you send back a link to where this is being discussed online? I’m going to be out for most of the evening, feel free to relay what I’ve said above if that’s useful, otherwise, I’ll just pop into the thread asap.
Bottom line, if this is a significant issue, we can easily make it right. If the flexes are the issue, I’ve already ordered the remedy.

Yeah it's just 3K rpm. I noticed it after I got it installed I got the y pipe and greddy installed the same day. Also I have not noticed any issues with performance.

I started at the beginning of this thread 2nite, and am not quite to the end, but I'll pop in to say that we almost always have O2 simulator circuits. One circuit works for one or two secondary O2 sensors (only the sensors that follow the pre-cats, there's no simulator for the primary sensors on the "upstream" side of the precats).
Price is $28, shipping is cheap, give us a call at 520.575.6195, open 9-5 MST. M-F.

1. Yes, 2. no, and 3. probably more than our dyno runs indicate because the y-pipe had been on the car less than a day when those were run. Seems clear from others that these will pick up power over the first few days.

brian... any word on the hiss... i really dont mind it... its funny, i used to have a "rattle" coming from my stock ypipe section... but now with yours the rattle is gone... its like i tradded a rattle for a hiss.... ill take that any day...
sounds like a turbo spooling up... all i need now is b.o.v. LOL
anyway.. keep us posted.. thanks ...

I'd be very surprised if this isn't the flex sections. As I indicated in my email correspondence that was pasted into a post, this has caught me off guard. The prototype we did all the testing with had 4" unlined flexes and they were fine sound-wise, so I never thought of it again. They did seem a wee bit too stiff, however, so I switched to 6" flexes (flex measurements always include two 1" end caps). Stayed with unlined flexes because my historical experience with y-pipes and flex sections led me to believe that the hissing in earlier Maxima y-pipes was caused when the turbulance occuring in the 2-1 collector hit the inside of an unlined flex, but since these flex sections are above the collector, that theory goes out the window.
Note that these are very high quality Microflex flex sections (one of the only US-made brands you can buy) and the issue is limited to the sound. They'll last longer than most flexes out there, and the sound certainly doesn't take away from the performance.
Anyway, I'm keen to confirm all of this. We expect to receive some new Microflex flex sections by Monday (also 6", but these will be lined) and we'll drop a pair into a new y-pipe and put it on a car to see what happens. I will be extremely surprised if this does not work and if it does, the lined flexes willl be incorporated in all future production.
If the noise is a bother, I apologize and will see what can be done about it. Haven't quite figured out how much of a burden the sound is (seems like some aren't bothered much, but that will vary between individuals) but want to assure everyone that we always stand behind our products. Just don't know enough about the circumstances or cure yet to take a specific position.
But that aside, I really appreciate everyone's interest in this new product. Performance-wise, I'm very gratified by the input so far and we'll get the second version out ASAP. I'm following this thread now, so please feel free to toss any questions my way.
