If Nissan made a high performance Maxima
#41
I think I would like any such vehicle to be known as the Maxima Nismo, be available ONLY with 7 speed manual (with 7th as a TRUE overdrive; 2500 rpms at 85 MPH?), have the VQ37 engine with around 300 HP, be AWD, have front and rear performance stabilizer bars, 245/45X19 wheel/tires, conservative aerodynamic package (attractive, but with good ground clearance), heavy-duty steering rack, oversize Brembo brakes, include everything currently in the Driver Preferred package as standard, and have distinctive (very visible but not ricey) outside markings.
There are surely other things I would like on it, but this is a start.

NismoMax80 - I usually try to be Mr. Milquetoast here, hoping to rein in some of the almost outlandishly extreme approaches some of our more youthful ORG members tend to employ.
But, in all honesty, even being nearer age 80 than 65, I still try to play a little basketball most days, and (just between you and me) have been known to pass half a dozen vehicles in one swoop on a two-lane road if the road ahead is clearly visible and unimpeded.
I definitely am not too old to remember where the accellerator pedal is; I take to it like a dog to a squeaky toy. And unlike many drivers, I love a mountain road with sharp curves; a road that is best traversed by a properly equipped vehicle with a manual tranny.
Yes, exploits of ORG members have indeed brought back wonderful memories of my youth. Much appreciated.

ya know i would have to say that i am glad that nissan dosent make a "higher performance maxima"! the way i feel is that from day to day driving i enjoy my ride. most of the time i drive he H3LL out of my car, but i really like to just chill some times and enjoy the ride! but if nissan were to make a "higher performance maxima" and just put that simple little sticker SE-R, or GTR or SM5, it would make all the little kids that have those furby launchers, and do nothing but drive from light to light, living in the dream of "i live my life a quarter mile at a time", it would make it so that all they want to do is annoy the hell out of you with there pointless revs at the street light....now i know that if nissan would do something in order to beef up the maxima it would probibly b something along the lines of turbo or SC applications! i mean common look at there past! we would b driving the "bluebird" which is actually the altima not the maxima, stated earlier in a response thread, and yea it would b fun but it would only b a matter of time b for emissions shut us all down
and yes i am drunk and blabbing sorry !
goodnight!!

Both Altima and Sentra have had SE-R models for quite a while now, it would only complete the whole package if that were a trim on every Nissan 'grocery getter' cars.

^ Not really, the M45 is RWD, a V8, and does not share anything with the Maxima.
Personally, the SE-R badging would be the closest one to work if they ever made one. I'd think it wouldn't look as good on their flagship. Nismo makes it sound worse, and GTR / Spec-V already go on other cars specifically. I think the SE badging does a fine distinction of the sport model on the Maximas. Always has compared to the SL/GXE/GLE trims. If they added a bit more power/better brakes/stiffer suspension/etc, then the SE would be fine and still classy.
