Brakes/Rotors replaced / now noisy !!
Ok so I had drilled/slotted rotors with EBC pads and was getting horrible humming when I stopped. I was told this could be from a number of things so being that I already tried swapping the pads and got the same result, I decided to replace the pads and rotors again. Upon doing so, It appears that I'm getting some noise that sounds like metal on metal when I stop and it sticks around for a short time after I begin to move.
My question is : is this normal after such a procedure and if so how long should I go before having this looked at if it persists. The car appears to stop just fine and I only get the noise when stopping or moving slow.

Im sure you already pressed the pistons in when doing the install. Other options are to make sure your caliper bolts are torqued to 110 ft lbs. Also make sure that the rotors are true as 1 of mine brand new was warped at the hub...who knew that could happen. good luck
I just got new rotors and pads installed and the shop told me that noise will go away. But I dont get it a little after I start moving though. He told give it a week. I also didn't use EBC but it doesn't look like that makes a difference anyway.
Increased noise comes from increased performance. When you upgrade your pads you upgrade your noise as well (ceramic helps out with this). Any metal composite (like Hawk HPS) will increase the noise, although I'm not saying something else could be wrong...

I dumped the holes and slots in favor of quieter braking. I still have them and will get them cut and probably sell them. Anyway, after the ride home from work, it seems to have quieted down a bit but I have some other noises going on that I'm concerned about that were there prior to swapping the brakes. Sounds kind of like a low pitched thumping sound but clicky like on the left side. Will wait till the brakes look a little more broken in and have someone check it out.
Is this noise a chattering squeal or a constant pitch noise? All points of contacts for the pad backing and caliper surfaces should recieve a lubricating paste. I put anti-seize compound on the areas where the pads metal backing plate touches the calipers points, piston outer edge, floating bracket area etc. When you slow down, especially at low braking pressures, the pad will oscillate back and forth in its range of motion making squealing noises if the contact points are dry. I have slotted rotors on the truck and they don't add any noise. When a pad makes noise from its surface material its usually immediate upon braking and then goes away as the braking time increases. When it stays constant its most likely the pad backing being dry. Certain pads are worse than others but in my experience it has been lack of lube.
